Today i was talking with a friend of mine who is casually plays x-wing, but is a rep for another game entirely. And the thought came to us as to hey we think maybe ffg might be missing the boat in as much in pushing the missions in more the competitive aspect like they do the 100 point dogfights.
My question is is there a place for this or is no one interested in this aspect? Any thoughts, good bad or otherwise would be welcomed.

We're all about non-tournament play. Call it casual, or whatever you want. We also do mission reviews from time to time. There's a surprising amount of people out there who give us a listen, so you aren't alone.

I agree, I wish there were more events that focused on mission or narrative play. I hesitate to wish it was competitive mission play because I think that the best part is that there isn't a meta for missions and i'd hate for all those bad competitive types to ruin it!
Look up Babaganoosh's missions on Mission Control, they are excellent.
You are not alone to think about this. There are debates every 6 months or so on the subject, even though about 50% don't think anyone wants missions other than a few weirdos out there.

I was going to suggest this. His missions are some of the best that are out there. They are even better than mine. That's why I grabbed him for the podcast!
Yes, in the podcast we talk about different ways to play. One that I like to play a lot is Dagobah Dave's Trench Run Mission. It's pretty fun and we dedicate an episode to it.
There is also the Heroes of the Aturi Cluster campaign. It's all fan made and we spent many episodes talking about it. We even interviewed the creator. It's the gold standard in fan made X-wing stuff that is Casual. I highly recommend it.
