R3 Astro combos

May give the list another tweak and try it against other lists, but its not impressive so far. I do think that whatever fixes T-65's get, they need to get Boost on the cheap :)

You could say this about a lot of ships, Boost at 4 points works for large ships, for several overcosted small ships,it might be better at 2-3 range.

Roll 3 attack dice. You have an 87.5% chance of getting at least 1 eyeball. Cancel it. Get an evade token.

Wait, how do you get a have an 87.5% chance of getting 1 eyeball? I have you at like a 57.8% chance, which is to say that if you roll 3 dice, there's a 42.2% chance that you will not roll any focus results.

Easy.

57.8% chance + Dyslexia = 87.5%

The math, for anyone wondering:

1-((5/8)^3)=1-((5/8)x(5/8)x(5/8))=1-((5x5x5)/(8x8x8)=1-(125/512)

=1-(~.244)=.756

I got 75.6% chance at one or more foci.

Edit: Or do I need to probability better?

Edit again: yup, probability better. Replace all 5/8 with 6/8, or simplify to 3/4. 58.7%

That would all be true if the attack die had a focus result on 3 sides instead of just on 2. You need to be using 3/4 instead of 5/8.

The problem with this card like many other Astromechs is that they tend to bloat the ship you are attempting to build for just a point more than it should. as it stands I would say around half of the astromechs for the rebels could be reduced by a point (even some to 0) and they would still only be considered decent and not game breaking. The R3 offers an interesting form of Insurance for Y wings and some X wings but in the end it is reducing firepower to slightly improve survivability on ships that are already over costed for the amount of shields and Hull they currently have. I would love to see some Astros that significantly improve the X wings Damage output or even movement shenanigans as currently i feel every defensive Astro has to get past the Biggs sniff test and majority of the time they come out the other end too watered down to make any impact.

Anyway, Etahn is too low in PS to make R3 matter against anything but generics.

R3 is adtromech if you roll bad or have no focus. Red Ace likes R3.

Red Ace likes nobody but R2D2.
