Primitive ballistic weapons being turned into non primitive ballistic weapons.

By Spoonthemoose, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

I don't know if this was posted before i tried searching a could not find anything.

I have pretty much all the books except for the newest one but i cant seem to find some that is like Mono but for ballistic weapons.

does anybody know if there is such a thing i was thinking maybe good craftmanship would make it not primitive but it doesnt say anything about that.

thanks in advance if i dont get back to you soon its 3am and i need to go to sleep lol.

Nope, nothing has covered it, because you can't really make a flintlock into something that'll blow straight through bullet-proof armour. I don't see how you could upgrade it, without just replacing it with a modern weapon.

i realized after i shut down my computer last night that i ment to say like crossbows and bows.

like if a sword can be mono could crossbow bolts be mono?

thank you anyway for replying.

yes it is possible to mono arrow and crossbow bolt heads. there is a thread that discusses this sort of thing..look for Moritat assassin and power sword by coucouyou within the same topic here, Rules Questions

explosive arrowheads.

other cultures might have some advanced 'primitive' weapon archetypes. its ur campaign, i can envision some human culture utilizing a high-tech bow with plasma bottled heads. there is no 'canon' material for this kind of thing and they would be decidedly extremely rare, found on one planet within the Calixis sector. the ammunition for such a thing ridiculously hard to find and expensive other than the world of manufacture.

i think i will talk with the other GM about this see how he feels (we take turns GM'ing) so far what i've found has been that it seems that crossbow bolts can be mono'ed just like swords and other things, he is alil bit tougher then me but im pretty sure he can see my logic. thanks again to everyone who posted.

Sadly, I can't take (all of) the credit, I'm one of a group of admins there, I'm just the active face of the site on the FFG forums. We have a great group of contributors too.

But still, thanks! lengua.gif

The RT book got some rules about Explosive Arrows. You get explosive damage type and lose the primitive part. THe catch is that you shoot at -10 to the balistic skill.

About turning a flintlock into a modern weapon. This should be doable when you replace the trigger mechanism and use modern ammunition (shotgun probably the easiest as it requires no rifling) . A skilled craftsman should be able to do so. Problem is of course that your weapon will at best be unreliable as the barrel probably is not up to modern strength. Not to mention the problem of reloading as most flintlocks are breechloaders.

I daresay that as soon as you've got a non-primitive weapon firing solid projectiles, you've got... well... a SP weapon.
