I think it would be awesome if the plastic bases for the monsters were clear plastic that way you could see the token you slide into them with the art and also the art of the board through the bases.

Yes. Properly fashioned, that would be great! The map tiles are so good looking it feels like a shame to cover them with black plastic.

My complaint is they're too huge. We ended one game with 3 investigators, 2 cultists and 3 deep ones in one small room... they were all overlapping each other!
I've seen people rebase the monsters onto clear acrylic bases. They keep the monster tiles as separate components or have a printed aide. See image below.
I agree the bases are huge. I will probably keep them as-is, but understand why people want to rebase. They do look much nicer with clear bases

Agreed. The bases are just too big. I went through great lengths to find an in box storage solution for this game and finally found one that works. It was overly difficult and very inefficient because of the large bases. Simple bases with a monster card would be better.
