Home One or Liberty?

By Admiral Piett, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I'm looking to buy either the Home One or Liberty expansion for casual play at home. My son and I play against each other with a common pool of ships. I have enough Imperials to build a capable 400 pt force, but the Rebels are a little light. The two ships I have that are the backbone of my Rebel fleet at the moment are 2 MC30s. I also have a CR90 and a Nebulon B.

If you could only buy one, which one and why?

Thanks for the help!

I'd say liberty for reasons better explained not from my smart phone

Mc80 Home One. You have no natural beefy carrier without an assault frigate or home one.

Mc30s are more than sufficient damage dealers

Home One so you can get Ackbar. Gives you the option of running scout MC30s and/or TRC90 with your cruiser.

Home One, to give you two different playstyles. The big Imperial ships like to come in straight ahead with forward arc fire. Liberty is set up to do the same thing, while Home One is more about the broadsides. By choosing Home One you can more easily experiment with different types of tactics.

Plus, you know, it's slightly more iconic -- since Liberty's screen time was getting one-shotted by the Death Star.

To be fair, none of the cruisers could repel firepower of that magnitude.

I'd say Liberty because it was easier to "get it" than Home One. But ultimately, you can't really go wrong with either one.

This is more or less what I was going to say.

Liberty is more fun and long term interesting to play, in my opinion, because it's faster and more manueverable. It's also a contrast to MC30's which are essentially broadside-ers. Then again, Ginakapo makes a great point about carriers.

I also like the way Liberties look better than Pickles.

Honestly, I think you can't go wrong either way.

I would go with Home One, the title card is amazing as is Ackbar in many cases. Also, Quad Turbolaser Cannons on the MC-30's will allow you to gain 2 automatic accuracies, which will pretty much mean all those lovely black dice hits going through as damage...

As also stated, run the 'command' variant for outstanding squadron control.

Imo akbar broadsides is easier/mire forgiving to fly than liberty BEEOBEEPCOMINGTHROUGH

Two primary firing arcs give you a lot more positioning leeway

Yes and No.

Speed and Navability lets the forward Arc come into play against enemy Sides and rears...
