Scale chart

By ThatRobHuman, in Star Wars: Armada

Can anyone provide a list of lengths for the miniatures out there right now? Just the capital ships preferably in cm. Time to start plotting.

Appreciated, but it looks like this chart does not take into account wave 3 or 4 (or possibly all of wave 2).

Ummmm I am not sure on the Interdictor Size.

The interdictor size is a confusing topic. There doesn't seem to be any indication that the original creators of the ship/concept intended there to be multiple ships with similar abilities, but different sizes were assigne to "the interdictor" and those seem to have been reconciled by.... Someone.... As meaning that there are multiple ships that look very similar but are radically different sizes.

Kind of like the cluster f%#$ that us the Klingon bird of prey (though not quite as extreme).

Well, in regards to "The Interdictor".

They looked at eveyrthing that the EU had to say about the Interdictor - That there was a smaller "Immobilizer 418" based on teh Vindicator Cruiser chassis, and there was an Interdictor Star Destroyer based on an ISD chassis...

And then, instead of trying to reconcile the size.... They Created a New Interdictor for Star Wars: Rebels, and gave it a very specific size.

And it is big.

Big enough to stuff a CR90 in its main hangar bay big... Big enough that a little Arquitens Cruiser should barely be bigger than its command and control platform.

When it comes to the Interdictor, though...

Ignore the EU.

This is not any Interdictor you have dealt with in the past.

By virtue of the fact that it is the only canon Interdictor shown beyond Written Word at this point... It shouldn't be as Confusing as the B'Rel vs Bird of Prey, since... Only it exists as a measurement :D

Yep, Dras nailed it as far as I'm concerned with regards to the whole issue of the Interdictor. That said, who minds if I take a shot at the sizing issue of our current 'festively plump' Interdictor? As a rough, rough, assumption plagued estimate: the new interdictor should be in the neighborhood of 1,120 meters. IE, it's big.

Model wise, 16.0 cm :P. Gozanti is 3.7 cm, GR75 is 4.2 cm, and the Liberty is 17.5 cm. Those are the new ones: the old measruements should be around but I can always try to take them if need be. I'm okay at that sorta stuff, my work is something vaguely related.

Methodology:

The method was based on one fundamental assumption derived from the concept art: the main hangar was directly sourced from Rebel's ISD-I hangar with only the external contours being changed to accommodate the new model's slimmer housing. As it's supposed to be a prototype ship, the in universe logic of sourcing existing parts rather than new manufacturing is pretty common and sound for similar ships. As an out of universe explanation, it could just be an identical and differently scaled source, but it's still something to go on.

So, I took two similar shots, the concept art and the shots of some Rebels ISD's, and overlayed them. From there, I used the photoshop gridded warp scaling to align and properly scale the hangars and draw down the centerline. Using the centerline with the hangars as the point of reference, I used a measuring tool to get the right relative measurements. It determined that the Interdictor is ~70% the length of the ISD-I (69.906, don't ask the margin of error, it's going to be fairly large, but the assumption of +/-10% is generous enough to work and 5% is closer). Anyway, taking that, we know the ISD's size, but something so close to 70% felt about right for scaling. Either way, the exact inferred measurement is 1118.5m).

I loved my SW Rebellion / Supremacy Interdictor.

I loved my SW Rebellion / Supremacy Interdictor.

I liked it better too. The new one is just another case of "bigger means cooler"-illness many creative people suffer from (see also: Action Trek aka Star Trek reboot).

I liked it as a medium sized special platform vessel, that was in the light cruiser leauge at best.

Love it all you want.

Its Dead now.

Dead.

Hm, is it dead because you or Disney tell me so :)

Last time I played it didnt look particularily dead to me, preventing a Rebel fleet from fleeing to safety :)

Except in the newcanon "novelverse" where, while no longer in production, there are still plenty left.

Yes, but in the newcanon "novelverse" as you put it, they are only written text, there is no physical, visual representation of them... That was the point of my statement.

You left out the word "yet".

No, I deliberately omitted it.

Why allow hope when you're crushing dreams? Sheesh. That's EvilOverlord 101 right there :D

For the record

CR90: 57.62mm

Nebulon-B: 91.15mm

Victory SD: 137.39mm

Gladiator SD: 90.88mm

Assault Frigate 2: 98.50mm (from nose to end of engine bell)

MC80 Home One: 185mm-ish

Imperial SD: 207mm-ish

Raider: 57.81mm

MC30c: 110.64mm

Gozanti: 36.71mm

GR-75: 41.64mm

Interdictor: 160mm-ish
