X wing galactic conquest

By cybercat07, in X-Wing Organized Play

I pulled out the old ps2 and fired up battlwfront 2 last week. I was wondering if anybody else has done a galactic conquest variant for x wing? Planetary bonuses and the whole 9....let me know if I'm not the only crazy one out there!

I put something together, but the play testing didn't reveal a major flaw that was uncovered when we started playing it. Plus it was kinda unwieldy to run.

Well what was the major flaw? I can tell its massive and involves a lot of number crunching, but it looks pretty solid.

Numerous issues arose as far as executing it, but the biggest play issue was that the way the rules were written, you were best to just run away from a bigger force than stand and fight. Other issues include:

3 player balance - Rebels + Imps both teamed up on Scum right away

Murder ball - As stated above, the best way to get attack was to get a bigger squad and force the retreat - no real X wing was played

Starting ship balance - Having numerous Starvipers kinda sucked. Especially for the guy dedicated to playing scum since he had to buy a bunch of them.

General slow playing - too many decisions to make between rounds

Waay too much overhead to manage - I had to be dedicated to full time GM just to try and stay sane

Setup of matches took too long - with the high point total that ended up in each squad, each fight that did occur took like 30min to setup.

I think I'm figuring this out...I'm working on trying to come up with a way to keep it simple but at the same time make it something fresh. I'll get back to you when I complete it! At this point I'm just trying to figure out the amount of planets I want, and a way to draw hyperspace routes.

armada is releasing a campaign box.. i havent read the rules but how are they handling it?
