Dual Turbolaser Turrets (Wave 5) - why???

While attacking, you may exhaust this card to add 1 red die to your attack pool. If you do, remove one die from the attack pool.

I may be a bit slow, but how is this any use whatsoever? It doesn't specify ships, so might be useful when attacking squadrons? I just don't get it.

It allows you a reroll basically, but instead of just being stuck with the second result you can choose to keep the first one. That's it in a nut shell

It's situational, has a minor use, CAN be used against a squadron, and CAN be used in certain combos. The thing has potential.

I still think the ISD 1 should have had a single red die for anti squadron value. But yeah it allows you to remove a blank. If you had an amazing roll well then you would have to remove a hit or accuracy but the rest of the roll is good so it is not really a bad thing.

Helpful discussion on the other thread - I can see the benefit, but would still prefer Veteran Gunners or Vader in the same role. At medium range we have Leading Shots and at short range Ordnance Experts, so mainly useful for long range I guess.

Well, it's only one die, so it isn't really comparable to Vader or OE. Veteran Gunners rerolls all of your dice no matter what - so you have to roll pretty poorly to want them.

This also doesn't have a range restriction. You can add the red die, and discard a black blank, or a superfluous blue accuracy - or you can roll it and hope to get a double hit or a crit to replace a single hit on any die color. If the added red die is bad/unnecessary, just toss it instead of a different die.

It is just a different cost compared to other upgrades. On the Arquitens and Nebulon B front arc, it shines well. It will be helpful unless you roll all blanks.

It's about 5 points good

It is definitely worth the points. I can definitely see a number of ships where it will be extremely useful. Cheap upgrades with a moderate effect offer nice flexibility in outfitting your list.

By the looks of it the Arquitens only has a single evade, so TRCs may be less of a go to for this ship. Dual turbos potentially mimic the effect (if you can roll well!) without compromising your evade. A 3 red broadside probably also has less use for xi7s or H9s.

Only other drawbacks - its a mod (maybe doesn't matter), and doesn't pair very well with gunnery teams.
