Anyone feeling any hype on this one?
I'm intrigued by the mechanics. And the miniatures look decent. I'll need to see more then just the two armies revealed in the demo video but....
I think I'm on board for this game.

I'm really trying hard to not want it (I'm long since sick of painting my armies), but I think I'm failing and really hoping it takes off and becomes a big, well developed thing. A home for all the disenfranchised WHFB people who gave up the GW madhouse with Age of Sigmar.
Not me. I got into X-Wing so I wouldn't have to paint miniatures. I find painting miniatures to be the most tedious part of the game and not having to do it is a plus in my book.

I like it sometimes, when the creative bug hits me. I'm pretty decent at it. But I'm getting on in years and find myself lacking the patience most of the time. My draw to X-Wing and Armada was in part because they were pre-painted (and because STAR WARS).
That said, I do find myself pondering how I would paint this game up.
An unpainted game by ffg....it seems like some sort of bizarro world
Why hasn't someone done a game yet that has both pre-painted and unpainted options? Or have they?
Yeah, technically I guess any prepainted game qualified since you can just re-paint -- I do that with X-wing. Just wondering if it is possible to simultaneously cater to the "minis assembly, modificaation, and painting hobby" crowd and the "just want to get in quick with a good looking game" crowd.
The whole painting and assembly thing was my barrier to entry to prior minis games, and X-wing solved that nicely.

Rackham was trying that with confrontation just before they folded. They had the pre painted stuff that was "OK" but they were also starting to release the same figs in a higher quality resin, but the company collapsed before any effect from that could be determined.
I'd think alternate sculpts only available in unassembled/unpainted form (but with the same stats/abilities/whatever to keep things fair) would be the way to keep the two approaches from competing with each other in the same game system. Other than the cost of needing more sculpts, it's the only argument I can think for not supporting both.
There is inventory management, shelf space issues, and warehousing as well, which can be serious concerns in a large product line. That's part of reason for GW doing so many multi kits.
Dust Tactics has unpainted and painted variants of their minis though the painted ones are much more expensive.
I know Warlord Games have started selling assembled, painted tanks for Bolt Action but, at twice the price of the unassembled and unpainted kits, I'm not sure if cost is something I would pay.
X wing is plenty for me though I'd love to give this a try.
Would probably prefer prepainted though - I already have massive piles of unpainted fantasy minis, and you can always repaint prepaints, and putting bare plastic on the table is sad.
I like that x-wing plays painted straight out of the box, but still leaves me room to be creative when I feel the need.

I agree, but with RuneWars, there's no real way they could offer painted mini's at a cost that's even remotely approachable by most people.
X-Wing stuff is fairly simple to paint, lots of straight lines over flat surfaces... Which is not true of RuneWars. That would make the price quite high for anything approaching X-Wing level quality paint.
I look at the various heroes and monsters I have for Descent, and I am tempted.
But then I look at my wallet, and realize it's a no go.

I'm kinda the same way. But it's going to come out sometime after Christmas so I may be able to swing it. I figure if nothing else a core set could be a lot of fun.
I'm pretty safe until Valyndra and the hybrids are announced.

I just found the name of my new band.
