I couldn't figure out how to print the index without the background, so I just converted it to WORD (2 pages). Is there a way to print the PDF witnout the background?

If you have the full version of Acrobat, you can edit it to remove the background. Other than that, you've done the best you can do with what's posted. It's a shame they forgot to post a printer friendly version.
I'm kinda going through the same thing for:
* The Errata
* Demo scenario
Hmm..I may have to dig out the Adobe pro and mess around with the background.
