If they do anything it needs to be pre-painted.
Looking at the Armada squadrons the Infantry in a ground war game would very likely come unpainted.

Yeah the infantry would be gray and beige colored plastic.
Eh, I'd question why they'd want to enter what is generally described as a dying genre (the multiple d6 land war style) when they have their own adaptable flight path system to distance themselves and stabilise through...
You could easily adapt the flight path system (particularly the Armada one) to ground units, with AT-ATs being the size of a small epic stomping on a group of stormtroopers.
Well, they have already announced both with Runewars. It is a ground war game that uses the dial and flightpath system.
All they need to do is something similar for Star Wars. Scaled appropriately, of course.
Maybe they will use what they learn from Runewars to make a Star Wars version that has mixed elements from Armada, basically the squadrons system being used for infantry or at least them being that size. If they were to go that path I guess we would need to wait a year or two after that game comes out to find out.
Yeah, I would MUCH prefer a ground game that had shared roots with Armada than Runewars. Runewars looks terrible.
I'm just saying I will buy it and love it pre-painted like the rest if not it's a pass for me.

Just like Armada I imagine they would have the vehicles pre-painted while the infantry units are not.
To be fair, painting 6mm infantry is a breeze, panting a WW2 company for Mein Panzer took under an hour.
Stormtroopers would be even easier - spraypaint while, apply black wash, done.

And I wouldn't mind ^^
I can paint myself. And I'd be glad about a ground based game as I could use the models for my Dirtside II Star Wars conversion.
Current status:
Dataslates for 30+ different Vehicles.

I used salt one winter for texturing my rocks and rough ground back then. Uhh... It took me a week to figure out where the puddles of liquid which kept forming was coming from, during the following humid summer.
![]()
Use sand for texturing... course now you can just buy texture paint.

Nah, texture paint isn't worth the money.
Sand is free, I'll stay with sand.
An important thought I had while working on a Battle of Hoth scenario for Dirtside:
If FFG ever releases a Ground War game, please don't make it 1:1 the Battle of Hoth...
It's to static.
No cover except a few trenches.
No need for coordinating you attack just walk/wait and roll dice.
The Rebel player has no need in moving his Infantry ever.

I know right... Hoth is cool but in the films. I have never done a trench run either because I am not trying to replay the films.
Nah I rather play like the films.

I got some more coolness for my EPIC LAND WAR project. The ISD is going to be so cool looking suspended over the battlefield in the background.
Aesthetics My Star-babies!

(I got two of these... it only took two years for them to be released here in America
It has been fun to see the image THAT I MADE FOR THIS PRODUCT being used by stores and blogs over the last two years
.)

Look at Dat ISD...
