Honestly, it looks like that ATAT has some life left in it.
DAT EPIC LAND WAR... YEAH IT KINDA FEELS LIKE IT'S COMING.
so how come that hurt it but blasters from the snow speeders had no effect...

It's the difference between a Javelin anti-tank missile and a 20mm cannon. Only one has any chance of breaching frontal main battle tank armor.
can't even tell if it went in (or just impacted on the surface)
Looks to me like it just pissed the AT-AT off a bit more...

maybe the target is ray shielded (so they'll have to use proton torpedoes)

Looks like he is specifically targeting the left side cannon. Maybe just trying to take the cannons out?
Funny you post this today...
I buy the MicroMachine mystery packs sometimes at Target looking for an Auzituck so i can play my home-rules version in X-wing (I've seen 'em in the 10 dollar pack, so I think they might be in a blind bag- only two-fiddy I may just get the big pack next time) But I haven't got the Wookiee gunship yet: I get the TIE fighters, the X-wings, the Rey's Speeders....
BUT today I got a AT-ST! and it's looks SO badass with a pivoting head and everything!....

All I could think was that we need this from FFG.
I'm not saying we're not going to get a ground combat game. I just don't think it's going to be part of or compatible with X-Wing.
Very few people are suggesting that such a game use the same rules as x-wing, just that the scale be the same (or pretty close) and that the rules be vaguely similar enough that we fans can mash them together without too much trouble.

The funny thing is while I think FFG is finally going to make this; If it is not in scale with the X-WING Game- I will not buy it.

It wouldn't have to be in the same scale but it would be great if it was. And it wouldn't be a stretch to incorporate space action with a ground assault. Look at the campaigns that come with the Raider and Gozanti.
That being said, I think directly combing the two might limit the space action.

Think of it as an EPIC LAND WAR Super Expansion... kinda.

This video is a biggie too. I did not feel like hunting it up this morning when I posted this topic. Steve is always right so when he says people just aren't going to believe we are doing this... it means something great is coming. It ain't the card-dice-thing, the time Steve references is later. Take into account that we know an announcement is coming at the end of this month... YEAHS!

I plan to be able to see my cute little guys on the table so I am using great looking 10MM models that actually look like little space-people and not blobs of tiny crap scattered on a base.

Thats 50% bigger than the 1/270 scale used in x-wing. So, if FFG make such a game in x-wing scale, your existing AT-ATs are going to look huge next to the "official" FFG ones.
Oh, and here is where you said, 2 months ago, that FFG were NOT doing a land war game.

You are probably thinking of arguing at this point that you meant 30mm scale, but later in the thread you post pictures of the 10mm stuff you have been using as an example of they type of game you said they were not going to produce.

But what scale is that, Joe? You've already talked about how you are already using 10mm (1/180) scale infantry, and the similarly sized action fleet AT-ATs for your own personal scenarios. The funny thing is while I think FFG is finally going to make this; If it is not in scale with the X-WING Game- I will not buy it.

For everyone else... smart people accommodate new facts. I have always stated that 6 to 10 mm figures are the right size and look perfect beside the X-WING Models.
FFG is either going to make an in scale game that fits this or they will make a new board game. If they make the in scale version I will prolly buy it to go with what I have since my collection looks great with the X-WING models.
Dunno... yet. FFG could not do this at all... but I think they will.

As others have stated... is this a practice run last year; for the real thing this year?

God I hope not. Incorporating land based stuff into this game would be terrible. How fast this game is suppose to be, land based stuff would move at a snail pace, those ATs wouldn't move faster then half a huge base forward one in three turns. Troops even slower.
I know you have a fascination with all things star wars, but, let's NOT mix streams. Just because you think it will be good, doesn't mean it would be. As apparent with so many of the fix (x) threads, I am so glad people on the forums have no real input on future mechanics.

I would not worry man, it would be an X-Wing EPIC Landwar Option. So the basic game would not be affected.

As has been said (many, many times, if people would just READ posts) very few people are advocating for an addition or expansion to x-wing itself. Merely a ground based wargame in a compatible scale that uses mechanics similar enough that the 2 (again, completely separate and independent) game lines could be crossed over by an industrious fan base.
As others have stated... is this a practice run last year; for the real thing this year?
The Rebellion figs are some seriously cool models.

I read all of it, I usually read all the posts before replying to help minimalist the same things said. I'm still stating what I said period though. I don't like the idea, I don't feel even if Incorporated by fans, it wouldn't be true to lore and would feel very off. You would basically need mini sonic the hedgehogs as infantry to make it feel right.
I was very happy when I got Rebellion and the AT-STs and Snowspeeders were close enough to x-wing scale to be usable. As others have stated... is this a practice run last year; for the real thing this year?

Yeah, but that 4winged imp ship also has what looks like a orange containers underneath, and the hover tanks have orange "barrels". Seems like a design choice of some importance.
I wonder what those orange containers on everything means?
These are Transport AT's and the orange boxes are for cargo.
Sabin's AT-AT, Sabin's Hovertank, etc ;-)
I think the only "crossover" I'd really hope for is packs of extra Gozanti Docking Clamps modified to hold AT-DP's and AT-AT's for 'Rebels' & 'Hoth' missions ![]()

So you don't like something that no one is really suggesting FFG do and that wasn't really being discussed. Got it.
While were on the subject, I think it would be a terrible idea if FFG released a My Little Pony expansion for x-wing as the scale would be all wrong and pinkie pie would clearly have to be massively overpowered.
Now, if the did an x-whiny style game of transformers, a MLP expansion would totally work there.
PS, I have never seen so much as a minute of the MLP show, did I use everything correctly?
