What we had here was a failure to communicate

By Estes209, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

I decided that that my TIE/FO's were tired of not being able to talk to each other. Comm Relays all around!

Ha ha! Nice simple mod. Looks good.

Did you pick that Tie SF at a convention? Got to add one to my fleet!

Looks great!

What did you use for the conversions?

Nice and simple. thumbs up!

Thanks, I used 0.15 "Music Wire" (.38mm). I cut it to 5mm long and used super glue on the side of the ship to attach the wire. I then wiped a bit of super glue over any seams and dipped the tip down the spout of the super glue bottle to give a little dab on the tip. Turn the ship upside-down to dry. After it was dry used black paint over everything that was shiny an added a dab of red on the tip.

I live in Indianapolis, so the TIE/SF was bought at GenCon. I forgot that it hasn't released yet.

Thanks for sharing, the conversions are very clean and unify the Tie's nicely.

It really is a bit baffeling that FFG didn't model those antennae, given that they are one of the distinguishing features the FO has from the standard LN.

****, was I the only one expecting a (Cool Hand) Luke repaint?

Great little mod and a clean paintjob. Another option to the music wire is to use those plastic price tag holders you sometimes get when you buy things, most often when buying clothing but can be found holding price tags on almost anything.

So if you buy something with these holding the price tag on, keep it to use as antenna or such. A quick look for the picture lead me to find them being sold in batches of 100 on eBay for $4.00 plus postage, if you wanted some in bulk.
