You guys need to check out an old Terry Gilliam move called Jabberwocky.

Well this is the most warhammer movie ever :P

Well, it's what most games turn into. As a GM I'm always trying to plan something with the power and intrigue of 'The Name of the Rose', however my players usually end up chasing a potato and taking a dump out of the window.

At least I can pretend that what we do is set in a GRIM WORLD OF PERILOUS ADVENTURE, rather than a CORNY WORLD OF RIDICULOUS BANTER.

great thread, thanks for ressucitating it! great sugestions. I'm downloading Jaberwocky, The Last Valley, Solomon Kane, Sauna and Black Death right now!

I was actually thinking about Warhammerish movies the other day. really, not much popped in my mind. but one thing that I suggest every GM do for reference is check out the italian movies about the Dark Ages and Renascence. I saw Franco Zefirelli's Brother Sun, Sister Moon a couple of months ago (it actually has two versions, one more linear - the director's cut -, with italian soundtrack, and one less chronologically oriented, with english soundtrack and a clearer similarity imprinted in Saint Francis with the hippie movement).

one thing I find amazing about italian movies is that they have a completely different treatmen of how things looked like than that of Hollywood. and I much prefer the italian treatment, because it seems SO ODD to our eyes... and I also find they are very similar to Warhammer drawings on clothes, for instance. so, even if the movie doesn't have a Warhammerish feel, it sure can provide a GM with great ideas for description.

EDIT: I just remembered Valhalla Rising. it's a strange, straaaaaaaaaaange film. slow, with sudden fight scenes, extraordinary for being simple, realistic... and also, well, extraordinary. it could give some inspiration, it has great photography.

The Devils... A film by Ken Russell set in16th century France, hard too find and really explicit.. google it and look for a download on one of the torrent sites since it's never been released on DVD or any modern format.

Solomon Kane- Not a great movie but really warhammerish in theme

Jabberwocky- early Terry Gilliam film and a warhammer fantasy must see classic

Witch Hunter General- Vincent Price makes such a great WH

Masque of the Red Death- another Vincent Price movie about a corrupt satan worshiping itallian noble set around the 15th century-16th century

Perfume: The Story of a Murderer - Excellent movie. It's got great acting, beautiful cinematography, a compelling plot, and it's pretty much the story of a devotee to Slaanesh to top it all off.
