Armada Vassal Deal or No Deal Round 2

By ianediger, in Star Wars: Armada

Sorry for the lateness, has been a busy week at work! Post your matchups here!

JJs Juggernaut vs. Ransburger 8-3 mov 70.5 JJs Juggernaut

Lyraeus vs. Maturin scheduled Thursday 15th at 9pm PDT (11PM CDT, 4AM UTC? I think?)

Lord Preyer vs. Ginkapo

EmFrank vs. PartyPotato scheduled Friday 16 at 7pm PDT (9PM CDT, 2AM UTC)

CNinja vs. Captain ICT scheduled Saturday after 8am-ish.

DabDarklighter vs. moodswing 7-4 mov 50.5 moodswing

BrobaFett vs. miferr 9-2 mov 137 miferr

Edited by ianediger

BrobaFett vs miferr started yesterday, and will finish up probably early next week. So far, my Demolisher killed his Dodonna's Pride, but Demolisher took some heavy damage in the process. Meanwhile, his Paragon and my VSD are both contesting the outpost. The VSD got a good shot (7 damage plus an accuracy) on Paragon, depleting shields on two hull zones, but not causing any hull damage.

Can Paragon finish off Demolisher at the beginning of the next round? (Very, very likely...)

Can the VSD finish off Paragon before it scoots away? (Much less likely...)

Can the VSD on the station collect enough victory points to make the difference? (Who knows...)

Stay tuned!

Post your vlogs in the shiny new subforum! There is a thread already started.

We're about to start the continuation of Brobafett vs miferr in case anyone's interested!

BrobaFett vs. miferr is done! The game went two more activations: on round 3, Paragon killed Demo, then VSD killed Paragon. Really not much else to report! The score ended up 210-73 in miferr's favor: 200 for the table plus 10 for a single outpost token, vs. 73 for Demolisher. Thanks to BrobaFett for a fun game!

JJs Juggernaut vs Ransburger (Player 1)

Objective: Dangerous Territory

93 - 22.5 (MoV 70.5)

8-3 Win for JJs Juggernaut

A really good game to Ransburger. I knew I needed to even up the activations ASAP going into this game, but I wasn't sure if I could do it before Demo did some serious damage, especially if he target my CR90 first, which is exactly what happened. I had split up my fleet, so after deployment it was Admonition facing off against the Raider 1 and Gozanti, while Demo looked to be heading for my flagship TRC90 + Han. Long story short and several tense turns later. in the process of getting a VP token the Gozanti took a Dodonna gifted structural damage, and Amonition sped up to speed 4 for a killing ram. This forced Demolisher to go next and the CR90 was able to dodge away with only minor (well half heath, but that's minor when dealing with Demo) damage thanks to Lando keeping a hit/crit away. At this point the Raider dodged Admonition and we circled to get back in position. Han did 3 hull to Demo, but the station + ET fixed it right back up. However, at this point we each had 2 VP tokens and with the flotilla kill I was up 27 points and was heading for the last VP token, which would have made it a 7-4 for me. In response the Raider came about and snagged the token, but was given a structural damage by Dodonna! Han and the CR90 were able to just finish it off at the end of turn 6 when the raider had to present it's unshielded side in order to avoid another asteroid. A really great and tense game!

Note: We decided to play with 5 obstacles since if we only used 3 and halved the points it seemed rather worthless (so much so I wouldn't have included it if I had realized). So this brings up a rules question. Are we to officially only play with 3 obstacles even if an objective say's otherwise? Both Dangerous Territory and Minefields come to mind. I feel like that wasn't quite thought through when it was answered we were to only use 3 obstacles (which btw isn't updated on the rules post on the original thread so it's kind of hard to find). Personally I don't mind 6 obstacles on a 3x3; it doesn't feel as crowded as you might think.

The main reason I made it three obstacles was because I believed it would be crowded, however, if it isn't very crowded, I'll change it.

***RULE CHANGE***

All obstacles will be used.

Would it not make more sense to play 3 obstacles at full points for dangerous territory?

Would it not make more sense to play 3 obstacles at full points for dangerous territory?

This gives a huge advantage to the second player as they can get 30 points to 15 since they place 2 of the 3. 4 at full points is a little much point wise, but 4 ant half would be silly. 6 really isn't that crowded and keeps the "half point objective" rule pure.

The one rule I want to keep pure is half-points, which is why all objectives will be used from now on.

Dabs vs. Moodswing

I was first player and we played his dangerous Territory. Dabs wins 98 - 47.5

It was a lot of maneuvering till rnd 3 really. My Yavaris locked down dash with the old Dutch Wedgey early, but I chose pourly when I could have put a hurt on Dodonna with double-taps instead of kill Dash. Lesson learned. Turn 4 Dabs had me lined up for a double ram to wipe out my last ship, but a miss-calculation had him tap his own ship first (**** shield dials. Why do they put those things on capital ships anyway?) This allowed my Madine powered Neb B to do some fancy flying to avoid further rams getting away with one hull left. This game was awesome, and Dabs can fly the jeebus out of CR90's. Great player and a great game.

Lyraeus and I have scheduled our game for Thursday evening at 9pm Pacific time.

Games that still need to be scheduled:

Lord Preyer vs. Ginkapo

You have until this Sunday, 11:59 pm CDT to schedule and play.

Party Potato and I are scheduled for this Friday at 7 PM PDT.

Lord Preyer isnt responding to the message I sent sunday.

Were both uk based so it shouldnt be difficult to organise.

Lyraeus and I have scheduled our game for Thursday evening at 9pm Pacific time.

Did you guys get this done? What was the score?

Unfortunately Lyraeus got stuck at work. We will try again this weekend, maybe/hopefully?

PartyPotato vs Emfrank

Fleet ambush, I took first turn.

We weren't able to use the map pack for the 3x3 table so we just cut the left and right edges of the 6x3 board. Which gave us more room to maneuver which in the end helped me more than him. The liberty with Madine and engine techs can really move. I don't think anyone fully expects the huge mon cal to be as speedy as it is. That set me up to get the first shot on Reikaans side and scored 3 acc and 6 damage getting the perfect roll to one shot his neb on turn 2. After that it was a kitting game with salvation and b wings that proved to be too slow. By turn six i got salvation into my front arc and that was the end.

10-1 200 mov to a rowdy spud. <-- just to confirm if you take out all ships you get the points for the squadrons that are alive correct?

Emfrank was a fantastic sport and a pleasure to play. He soundly beat me in the last tournament, so we'll have to be sure to get a rematch in soon.

I like to think of my match last night as you can learn more from your failures than your success. Great game PartyPotato. Nice flying.

Alas, Lyraeus and I were unable to find a mutually agreeable time before the deadline! *sigh*

*sadface*

The Cap and I should be finishing up our match tonight at around 6pm Central.

CNinja vs Captain ICT

CNinja wins 200-0 10-1

I was first player and chose his Intel Sweep. ISD and Jaina's were the Objective ships. I'll post the log files to the thread.

Captain ICT is a great player and this was a game that we both agreed came down to the dice. I aggressively hunted the objective tokens and Captain made me pay pay relentlessly pounding the ISD with his Xwings and Corvettes. Unfortunately for him in turn three Cracken was parked in front of the ISD and paid for it. Then Bright Hope ended in an unobstructed ISD1 front arc shot on the next turn. Leading shots came up big with the accuracy - poof went BH. Finally, Jaina's was taken down with incredibly lucky plink shots from the ISD side and my Raiders blue range. It had 3 damage and Cap pulled a Structural Damage card. Ouch.

We want to replay the end of this match at some point. We know it won't turn out like this again.

Due to Lyraeus and Maturin not being able to find a time to play, and due to Lord Preyer's computer being locked out, I have decided to extend round two by a week.

Round Two now ends Monday, September 26, at 11:59pm. If you are still unable, all parties will receive the 5 point side of the draw.

With round two now over, we will move into the final round, round 3.
