Ever done something fun, even when you knew it would lose the game?

Just wanted to share a fun game I had last night. An old friend and I were playing a game at his house last night. He was running a dual Interdictor+Rhymerball. I was running what I call my Immortal MC80 (Ackbar+Redemption+CR90 both with projection expert+GR75 with repaire crew. Makes it very tough to take down the MC80AC). About turn 4, his interdictors were flying at me in formation, while my fleet was perdendicular to his. Perfect broadside shot into his front, and I could have then flown past and turned to keep only 1 in range of shooting me. I probably would have shredded it and the gonzati in short order.

Here is where I saw an opportunity for fun.

I am a big fan of the old legends, and I remember an old thing called the "Ackbar Slash" where the rebels would fly right in between enemy ships (where in "real" battles they would have to be careful that misses did not hit a freindly ship). There looked to be just enough space in between his interdictors to fit my MC80. It was then that I told my friend that I was "Going to do something stupid, that will probably lose me the game, but I will find it funny". I ended up bumping and getting stuck double acred by both of his interdictors, but I did get them both in my side arcs. Support ships kept him alive till the end of turn 5, when we called it as I had to work today.

We both agreed that I probably would have won had I not, as my friend put it, "Gone Ahab with my white whale". Going Ahab is now coined for our X-wing/Armada games where we do something stupid/get killed in the name of fun :)

My first game with the Mc 80 and ISD I managed to do the Ackbar Slash to my opponent's Demo and Imp at close range with Ackbar aboard! I litteraly one shoted his Demo and did a little damage to his Imp. Unfortunately in so doing I did not factor his Vic following behind the Demo. In two turns I lost the Defiance because I could not maneuver out of his front arc at close range!

Drink Whiskey. A lot of it. Of course this was during a particularly bad 40k game for me and my team mate. Things went swimmingly thereafter.

I think we got tabled.... I think....

My first Wave 3/4 build was pretty terrible. I wanted to try new things, so I made a list where basically the only thing with substantial power was the Demo.

I lost pretty terribly, but that's OK.

First time I played against an Interdictor, my opponent had it equipped with a Grav Shift Reroute and a G7 projector. I was first player, and I saw that his objectives included Fleet Ambush! I absolutely couldn't resist taking it, just to see how badly the Interdictor would mess up my deployment. So much fun!

I think I pulled the exact opposite to game losing but fun. I had an MC80 assault that fired and very nearly killed an VSD from the blue Range after being too the left and moving past it. I realized in my ackbar conga line that I had a guppy on 1 health to the front left and open space to the front right. However if I took the second option I'd end up out of range of the VSD. So the MC80 ran up the ass of the guppy, killing it but just remaining in range. Getting its first a five shots and (only just) making enough damage to take down the VSD. My opponent still had no clue as to why I did it until MOV was calculated

My guppy cost 10 points less than his VSD and I score a 7-3 by 2 points

Ballsy af but fun
