The sky

By urakei, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hi i got a question about the sky..

Does flying monsters stack on the sky or goes to the outskirt when it cannot enter the sky (if it is limited to one monster only)? I can't find any reference that says about this matter...

Thanks in advance

Yes, you can have multiple monsters in the sky. And they still count toward the monster limit.

So if that is the case all stacks of monsters (like 5 stacks) will attack the target investigator when they are on the street? Seems too overpowered when later all will go up to the sky then attack another one....

One might question why you are letting so many flying monsters roam free without introducing them to the butt of your rifle. Consider that this mechanic is only "overpowered" if it is allowed to be so.

On the other hand...whoa, been there, buddy. And yes, it sucks. At that point, my best recommendation is to close some gates with the right symbols...or send Michael out into the cold night with a steak around his neck and dynamite up his...

When the skies have multiple monsters, and you are in the street, yes you get swooped on by all the monsters that get to move that turn because their symbol showed up on the mythos card. This means crescent monsters are more likely to spot you up there.

Ok got it... the gate closing strategy does make sense... it does give some thrill on that overwhelmed by fliers part... gotta love this game....

Thanks guys...

The crescent symbol comes out the same amount of time as any other symbol. It just seems like the crescent comes up more often because there are more crescent monsters.

Ah, thank you! I do not look into the statistics behind the game because I dont really want to see all the wiring under the boards.

It is interesting that this is actually a perceptual illusion created by the hordes of earthbound monsters :)

What happens when a flying monster symbol comes up in a Mythos card and the monster is still in the original location and there are no investigators there or in an adjacent street? Does it move normally to the street? Or stays there and never moves?

In this case the flying monster moves to the sky, per pg. 11 of the rulebook, example C.

No. Example C says that:

"C) If the flying monster is in a street area
with no investigators and there are no
investigators in a connected street area, it
moves to the Sky."

Says nothing about being in a location.

Try the FAQ, they put out those for a reason you know gui%C3%B1o.gif .

"3. When a flying monster in a street area or location
moves, it will either move to an adjacent street space that
has an investigator in it, or failing that, move to the Sky." (p. 3)

So flying monsters never move around the board. Ok, thank you very much

Well in this instance, don't take the rulebook so literally. lengua.gif
