Quadjumper steals upgrade cards from destroyed ships?

By Azrapse, in X-Wing

The distributor of X-Wing in Spain, Edge, released yesterday a preview article about Wave 10. So far, only for Sabine's TIE, the Quadjumper, and the Upsilon-class shuttle.

The article starts by summarizing every ship with a single sentence:

Pilota un caza TIE rebelde. Utiliza los restos de otras naves para conseguir mejoras. Usa el poder del lado oscuro y paraliza a tus enemigos al escoger tus impactos críticos...

That translates to:

Pilot a rebel TIE Fighter. Use the remainders of other ships to get upgrades. Use the power of the dark side and paralyze your enemies by picking your critical hits...

In the past, this publisher has spoiled information about the game way before FFG has. In particular with the K-Wing and TIE Punisher during Wave 7.

Since the first sentence clearly refers to Sabine's TIE and the last one is talking about the shuttle, it seems that the part that I have highlighted is describing something about the Quadjumper.

Has this information been spoiled before?

Do you think the Quadjumper will be able to equip upgrades taken from rival destroyed ships?

stealing palpatine would make it even more troll

so fingers crossed and all

Nah, it's the illict Scav(enged?) C(argo?) illicit.

It looks like it's something like 'after a ship of some sort near you is destroyed or an mod or (some other type) upgrade is discarded, pick an upgrade of that type, roll 1 attack die, on a $result, you gain the benefit of that upgrade' but the exact wording remains to be seen.

Sounds fun thouhg.

It'll most likely just be Modifications and/or Illicit upgrades.

That woudl be my guess. Maybe mod, illicit, or crew, btu scavenging Palp would be ludicrous.

Can imagine the hilarity of YT with Swag Compartment stealing palpy xD

or Rebel Captive p_p

or even some Adv Sensors ur uber-targetting comp

You can see it in the fan. It's illicit.

As in, it's likely to be mods and illicits that it appropriates, not the mod itself, which is indeed an illicit.

My guess is it would let you salvage an upgrade from one of your own destroyed ships.

But stealing an upgrade from an opponent would be hilariously fun.

Want autothrusters on your smuggling compartment Finn falcon? Just steal it from soontir or inquisitor.

This is what I meant. Sorry, I wasn't clear in what I was responding to.

It won't do anything because you won't have an Engine Upgrade, so... knock yourself out?

"Just"

well Palpatine is the essence of the Dark Side, right? Who ya gonna call?

Depending on the wording on the illicit you could be correct.

But one can hope.

All I can picture is a swarm of Z-95s picking through the wreckage like crows after shiny bits

I'm trying to think of mods or illicit actually worth spending another illicit on, for the potential to scoop up that upgrade mid-game. There's definitely some kind of die rolling involved, so like, is it a 50% chance to pickup the upgrade? If so, the card is really terrible.

If not, then like, maybe there's a 100% chance to scoop up the mod or illicit then a 50% chance to discard the illicit Scavenger Claw via die rolling? If that were the case, how would you utilize it to make this worth the point cost, and how little would this have to cost to be effective? 1pt tops, and possibly even 0 points just because you had to fill an illicit slot with something that might be useful mid-game over like, BMST, right?

My first impulse was like, set of cheap K-Fighters or something where they all had Hull Upgrade and Scavange Claws so like, the first one to get shot down has 6HP but the rest of them are scraping over the bits to bump themselves up to 7HP? I wouldn't call that good, but it would certainly be funny/interesting.

EDIT: Or like, maybe you put Hull Upgrade on a Z-95 escorting Xizor, put the claw on Xizor, then when that derp finally explodes, Xizor is floating around with bonus HP?

Actually, it probably will, pending a ruling.

Autothrusters says you can only equip it if you have boost, but nothing about it says it won't have effect, and it doesn't sound like the card will require equipping it, you just gain the effect.

Looks like you do pick up modifications and at least one other type of upgrade. It also looks like you have to roll a die - I'm betting that this scavenging operation can actually fail... Making this card a bit unpredictable. Very much a good upgrade for scum!

I highly doubt you can pick up crew. Think about it - does Han Solo ever blow up a tie fighter, turn around, come back, and pick up the pilot and the stormtrooper just goes along and happily works for him and helps him run the falcon? I doubt you can rescue your enemies and then have them work for you!
