Rebel crew and the Attack Shuttle

By Jarval, in X-Wing

With the increasing number of crew options available to Rebels, are we likely to see the Attack Shuttle get more play as a result? That crew slot seems like it should have a lot of potential.

Going for just existing option, there's Sabine with Chewbacca crew, which is effectively a PS 5 X-Wing with Integrated Astromech, boost, and barrel roll for 25 points. While not super competitive, that seems pretty solid for the cost.

Zeb with Cassian Andor clocks in at 20 points, and seems like he could be a pretty effective blocker (thanks to the combo of Cassian's ability and barrel roll) while being able to contribute a bit more to the fight than a Z-95. Admittedly, his Pilot Skill of 3 counts against him a little, and he doesn't have an EPT for Adaptability to drop it down.

Ezra with Elusiveness and Rey crew could be a somewhat tanky 24 points. You can rely on having a defensive focus when you need it, and only need to stress yourself with Elusiveness when you're actually being shot at. Rey lets you bank focus for offence, leaving you free to barrel roll or Evade, or still have some offensive dice modification on turns when you're stressed.

Rey also seems like she could work well with Hera, letting you bank a focus or two to use when you're dialing in a red move, or freeing you up to take a non-focus action. Hera with VI and Rey is 25 points, and seems like it could prove tricky to keep in arc.

With more Rebel crew on the way, I'm really excited to see if there's more strong combos with the Attack Shuttle pilots. :)

Of course, there's the dream of FFG releasing the Attack Shuttle as its own expansion in a future wave, with Chopper, Kanan, a generic pilot, and whoever else we see flying it on Rebels, and maybe an astromech slot as a modification. :) That said, I can see FFG not wanting to combine Hera's ability with the R2 Astromech...

Sabine pilot with Cassian crew is never not going to be funny. Sabine pilot with Intel Agent is a fun blocker/pre-arc-dodger, and Cassian is a better intel agent. Get it right? CHange your dial in response. Get it wrong, just boost/br differently.

The Attack Shuttle is a great little ship! I think Rey is a great option for it if you're not taking inside a Ghost. I think it wants to stay as cheap as possible, so a 1-2 point crew would be the best. Cassian Andor would be even better on Sabine because regardless of what you have dialed in, her pre-move BR or boost can probably get you that block. She is a bit expensive for a blocker, though.

We will have to wait to see the other crew in HotR and the U wing.

The attack shuttle is a fun and punchy little ship, no doubt about it. The only problem is that it is fairly squishy so I am loathe to spend too many points on it. Cassian looks like he would work well on several of the pilots. By the same token, some of the Ghost crew would look quite at home on a U-wing as it provides a reasonably well defended platform for Kanan to spread his calming vibes.

Ray is just solid overall

2 agility AND frees your action to evade stack on top of that

only four hull means it isn't super amazing, but that is very solid

How about flying Sabine with ptl, and Kyle Katarn (27 points) with a u-wing piloted by Cassian Andor as support, crew in the u-wing would be Jan ors, and Intel agent.

If the shuttle starts a round stressed it could end the round with great position, and have two evade tokens and two focus tokens effectively taking 5 actions

If you're going for token jyn Jan jank you might as well use Biggs

Sabine with Chewie and PTL is 28 points of unorthodox maneuvers, 6 hit points, and three actions a turn with no stress. I've had a lot of fun with this build and its upgraded successor, which adds an autoblaster turret and targeting computer to her, making her 32 points and worth it.

Also, you wanna make her really dance? Slot Kanan in instead of Chewie. Not as tough, but the sheer amount of positional shenanigans and still three actions with no stress is impressive.

PTL Sabine and Saboteur.

Saboteur really needs some love.

I like Int Agent PTL autoblaster turret Sabine. Int agent is totally being replaced by Cassian when he comes out.

Ezra, Push the Limit, Kanan to open up dial for next turn and Stealth Device to get that extra Focus.

Good little ship. One hell of an ace if it had the PS.

I am playng attack shuttle often; my build:

Hera:

Veterano istint

Auto blaster turret

Nien numb

Is great for 26 points, and Can often shoot with autoblaster.
