Targeting Scrambler vs Leading Shot Timing Question

By shadeofdawn, in Star Wars: Armada

I'm sure this is a solved problem and it's just my understanding of the timing of various effects that's lacking here, but when Targeting Scrambler and Leading Shot go head to head, which happens first? I'm just not sure about when Leading Shot is used as all of the stages seem to be during an attack.

Anyone want to help walk me through it?

Thanks.

Really Simple.

They don't go head to head.

Leading Shots is Done in Step 3: Modify Attack Dice.

Targeting Scrambler is done in Step 4: Defender spends Defense Tokens.

Must do Step 3, before Step 4 applies, and you don't go back to Step 3 Afterwards.

Thanks, that's what I thought, but my gaming partner wanted a clarification on it and I couldn't pin it down from a look over the rules myself.

Ah nice, was curious about that too

The timing is why Targeting Scrambler is so helpful vs OE black dice.

Or MM evades. Or Admonition. Or Lando.

All very true. My opponent the other night had a similar question after I made him reroll and he came up with an accuracy and a hit. He wanted to target my redirect, however, because we were past that step in the attack, he couldn't. This is about the third time I've used the scrambler (been busy lately) and I'm digging it. In a hyperspace assault game, the Interdictor was alone behind a liberty and Neb B and used the TS to great effect with the Interdictor title. I wish I had kept some stats but it kept the ship in the game a lot longer.
