I've been slowly working on repainting my Scum fleet to work for the greatest legitimate business in the galaxy. Here's some of what we've got flying Prince Xizor's colours so far.

Cool! The purple accents go together well with the black/white hulls. Good choice!
Edited by PiscopasThe new FAQ hit and my Scyk hype is real. Got this done after work while rewatching Firefly.
I'm honestly shocked that I got this done before my new Protectorates - I thought I'd be hooked on Fenn Rau for weeks. But I'm really keen to get this weird little interceptor on the field some more.

I'm very tempted to pick up three more of these weird little guys so that I can run an all-Scyk Mindlink list.
Serissu (24)
Tansarii Point Veteran (24)

Tansarii Point Veteran (27)
I do realise the irony of running Serissu and her guys in Black Sun colours, but it sounds like a fun little squad.
Very cool! I like the style and choice of colors.
Well done! I'm interested in the process you used to paint these so well. Do you have to strip the original paint off or did you use primer on top of the original paint for example?
I just picked up a new Scyk to go with this one. I'll take some pictures as I paint it this time, and put up a post to show the process. With any luck I'll get some painting time in over the next few days.
Well, I got distracted by an extremely seductive StarViper. I've been on a PS5 kick lately - with the Scyk buffed it seems to be the sweet spot for Attanni Mindlink, between Tansarii Point Vets, Concord Dawn Aces, Black Sun Aces, Guri, Palob Godalhi and Kaat'o Leeachos (Who conveniently worked for Black Sun), you've got a huge variety of ships to play with and I've found that lining up your PS in a Mindlink list really helps so that you can K-Turn whoever you need to, then run greens on your other guys.

Really like the HWK ship, dispite the fact that its just black and white mainly, for some reason looks nice.
I've added two new Scyks to my fleet, and took a couple of photos of the process while I was at it. Excuse the potato quality photography.

We've just started here. I'm working straight over the factory paint job. I don't bother stripping or priming the ships. I've blocked out my main coloured sections. This is the result of two thinned coats of paint to get a nice even finish.

The first layer of highlights - darker panels get very narrow highlights along the edges, while paler panels get quite broad highlights to help them look brighter. At this point the ship is ready to have a black wash over the white sections, then I'll highlight them back up and do a final very bright highlight along the edges of all the panels.
I've already finished the windows here - smaller windows just get highlighted up to a pinprick of light, while larger windows get a roughly crescent arc at opposing corners, leaving the centre dark. This helps sell it as reflective.

At this point they are, for all intents and purposes, done. I've washed down the white sections to help define the different panels and then brightened it all back up. There are a couple of thinks I might want to touch up but they're ready to join the fleet.
I basically aim for 'tabletop standard' with my ships. They're not going to be winning a painting competition anytime soon but they are quick to paint and look really good on the field. A good concept is the "Three foot test". If you hold a figure up close you can see all the mistakes and sloppiness of your paint job, but if you put it down on the table about three feet away (The same distance you'll be looking at it 95% of the time when you're playing), suddenly it can seem like a far higher standard than it actually is.
Edited by MangipanThe latest addition to my little fleet is a decloaking G-1A Starfighter. I'll blame my potato quality photography on the lighting, and try to get a better shot once the sun is up.

Beautiful work! I started to put together a Black Sun fleet of my own as well (just finished my Shadow Caster), and I might just steal your idea of purple canopies, because painting essentially black and white does start to look a little dull, and those colour accents on you models really make the whole thing pop!
The HWK is particularly nice, and your decloacking effect works really well with this scheme.
I had a stressful day at work today, so I had a quiet night in and watched some recorded matches from the Naboo Open while I repainted my Fangs.
I wanted them to look really different to my Scyks, so I gave them a design that's vaguely reminiscent of the Back Sun logo, while following the lines of the ship.

Gives them an interesting thorny look...

They look like multiple sets of fangs. Maybe you can call them Fang Fighters...
