Reasons to rage quit

For one Drink...

...

I'll let you buy a Vowel....

*sigh* How about...

Y?

Whatchugonna do with 3 Ys, man?

Kyrcyzky?

Kyrcyzky?

Well done

some may be silent

Not enough letters, man... Not enough...

Now I have rather enjoyed the level of rage quitting we get to see discussed on this forum. As its dissipated a bit with all the lovely new toys I thought I would keep my amusement level up by listing all the things that have fuelled rage quitting in this forum.

1) The core set is unbalanced and rebels can't win against a Vic

2) wave one is rubbish, I still can't beat the imps

3) ryhmer sucks, he's easy mod, imps are to good

4) what kind of arse ship is the raider, Imps have a rubbish selection of ships

5) trip tap demo and four raiders is madness. I can't play against this ****

6) wave two is taking to long....

7) it's been 2weeks since wave two and I've heard nothing about the next wave

8) that's not a wave its two little ships

9) now they are releasing wave after wave I can't afford this, pay to win or what...

10) they keep putting the good cards in ships I don't want..... FFG are only in it for the money

Well that's my top ten.... Any I missed

There's not an SSD!

3 pages and I see no mention of it. Really people?!

If you're going to rage quit because of that, send me your ships and I'll give them a nice home here. ;) :D

Not enough letters, man... Not enough...

I wonder what a Victoria Bitter would get me. . .

I am never wrong, as far as I can tell. I may also be my own biggest fan.....

I thought I was wrong, but I was mistaken.

There are many legitimate reasons to quit quit a game. That can be due to financial reasons, time reasons, or just falling out of love with the game itself.

I find that for the most part I enjoy and have enjoyed every game I have played, but slowly over the space of years just start finding that it becomes harder to enjoy playing as much as I did in the early days. For me the realisation that I am only playing a game 2-3 times a year and then only at tournaments is the signal to move on. Even 40k (warts and all) was a great fun period of my gaming life. The interesting this, is that for the most part the friends I have made along the way, even though we have changed games a few times are still friends and we still game as much as we can.

I was playing in a tournament a few weeks ago and had a huge frontal attack from a Mon Karren with concentrate fire. I couldn't find all of my red dice - I was looking to see if they fell off the table... (I later found them - they ended up with my previous opponent's red dice) - so in the mean time I asked my opponent if I could simply borrow 2 of his red dice for this one attack.

He said "no".

I was like "R U Serious?!"

he says "yup"

I say "Are you using weighted dice or something?"

He's like "Nope. I'm superstitious. I don't let people roll my dice because they might roll double hits against me with them".

I stared in disbelief and if it wasn't a tournament match I would have packed up my things and went home right then and there. I ended up having to go interrupt someone else's match to borrow 2 red dice for a single roll, then give them back.

Funny thing is... I'm pretty sure it's an FFG rule that you actually HAVE to let someone use your dice / movement equipment if they request it.

When the request is made (It used to have to be at the start of the match, now it can be anytime) -

Its not "their dice", its, "one set" of dice.

So they could say, "Sure, we'll use yours."

At which point, you'd be at the rules suggestions - remembering results and then re-rolling dice as appropriate to be new dice.

Another SFB player, huh?

I gave up on SFB a long time ago (still play the SFC computer game from time to time).

Someone like that, you don't want to touch his dice anyway. Probably does some kind of weird ritual.

I do the same. Every acronym from that game is engraved in my brain. Boy, did I play a lot of SFB in the 80s and 90s. I miss it, ... I think.

EDIT: I played Romulans, almost exclusively and always in tournaments. Outside of tourneys I also played Andromedans.

Klingons and Kzinti were my go-to fleets. Though flying drone ships was sometimes an exercise in advanced bookkeeping.

To this day I think it is the most well-made and balanced space game out there. But finding time and players is a lost cause.

"Exercise in advanced bookkeeping" and 'well-made" aren't complimentary terms, to me :D

SFB was fantastically detailed, and super-robust, and pretty well had a rule for everything.... But it lacked a flow and an ease of play...

Some days it did feel like all the fun of a voluntary calculus quiz...

:D

My friends and I once played a game where it took seven and a half hours to play 3/4s of a turn.

My friends and I once played a game where it took seven and a half hours to play 3/4s of a turn.

The best SFB battle I ever played took 22 hours (two full 12-ship fleets) and was amazingly fun. We would regularly play 4-6 hour games (3-4 ship squadrons) and that was considered a light day of gaming.

It's funny what different people's idea of fun can be. Even funnier how as you get older some experiences are much less appealing than they used to be.

Klingons were my fleet of choice.

I just loved the D7CT as it was so much better than the standard D7 or D7L you got to use in regular games.

My ragequit moment: Rolling with 7 red and 3 black dices, ending up with 3 hits only.

3 Hits better than me when I rolled 4 Reds, 5 Blacks. :P
