the cardboard... replace bombs

By Wiredin, in X-Wing

my family and I are moving right now. I have put a lot of my cardboard extra tokens and stuff kind of hap haphazardly into a small shoebox, including some full cards of tokens I never use. Well, I've never used bombs. During the move said shoebox got discarded.... with all my bombs.

Yes some duplicate rocks, a couple of epic rulers, mission tokens, that kinda thing got tossed too...but I have many spares of that in my main cases... but no bombs.

The question I pose to you guys is.... do I rebuy the ships with the bombs I want to use the bombs I wanna play with in the near future? Will FFG send me some tokens if I ask really nicely? Are there acrylic ones out there that I can get instead?

You definitely try to contact FFG, you have nothing to loose. You can also look around on ebay, people are selling all kind of X-wing gadgets, I recall that I saw bomb tokens.

I'm guessing eBay is your only logical choice. The idea that FFG will replace lost parts is a bit too far fetched for me.

If I were in your shoes, I would just go for the acrylic tokens. I am partial to the way they look and hold up over time. It would be cheaper than buying several ships to get all standard tokens again.

Now, if there were other cards you needed, or want to increase your ship count for other reasons (Epic games, custom painting, etc.), sure, splurge on ships + cards.

3rd party acrylic bombs are not legal at tournaments, however, they work just fine for casual play. If you are a tourney player, I would expect that should you choose to run bombs at one, your community is likely like mine and you can just borrow some from some other guy.

However, if that doesn't appease you, there are official FFG acrylic bomb tokens that ARE tourney legal. You can find them on Ebay. Seismic charges were from some OP kit like 3 years ago and should be ~$10, Proximity Mines were from the same OP kit and are ~$20. Proton Bombs are from an OP kit ~2 years ago and ~$10 as well. Cluster Mines are from this years regional and are ~$25, and Conner's Nets are from this year's Nationals/Gencon and are ~$75.

Do any of the wave 9 ships have bombs? I need to check! I dont think so, but it's an option

Nope. None of them. The SHadow Caster comes closest, but the Cargo Chute isn't a bomb, much as it acts like one.

There's a bomb in w10 though.

hmmmmm, prox mine and thermals are really the only ones I want right now.

FFG does replace lost cardboard (I have a dial for a TIE Fighter coming in the mail) but I'd be hesitant to say they'll replace ALL your bombs in a go. For home games though you could just as likely hit your printer and use a pair of scissors. You could be ready to fly tonight.
