So a friend of mine has sadly decided to leave this game behind. He offered to sell me his ships for a pretty good price and I'm going to buy them. He and a friend got me into the game when scum was introduced and that's the only faction I've played apart from a handful of times. The collection has pretty much everything up until a wave or two ago (not counting epic ships).

I had already been considering branching out into the other factions but to get everything at once will be a bit overwhelming. I could use any tips/suggestions/builds to help me absorb it all. As a scum player I'm confident and fairly good but I know each faction has a flavour all their own.

Well rebels do use the z-95 and y-wings. (with some slight differences) so if you are familiar with them you can use them for a familiar base to build off of. And the imps have the firespray of course which can do the same.

Im not really experienced enough to offer much more advice.
