Movement

By Wetaas, in Star Wars: Armada

Yesterday I noticed something I haven't seen before. I was watching a game in YouTube and when they moved their ship at speed 1 they used the value 3-4 to in the manuver tool to move the ship.

This made their movement different from using 0-1.

Is this legal or do they just make some own rules. Because one of the players was a champion and would know about rules of the game.....

Your saying they notched the tool in at the 3 position and then moved to the 4 position in order to accomplish a 1 speed mone?

How is that going to produce different results? Each segment on the maneuver tool is the same length (since you have to assemble it and they aren't marked.

With the Movement tool, every Notch is the same distance...

0-1, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 - the distance between Notches is the same.

It is a shortcut that was taken. Its not "expressly" legal, in the very absolutely definitive sense - but neither are utilising shortened tools... They are a shortcut that doesn't change the legality of the maneuver.

Unlike the Distance tool, where distance 1 for a Squadron is further than any other individual distance on the ruler.

This is something I actually recommend doing as required, since all segments of the move tool are the same as the others have mentioned. If you were to start from the 0 position just to do a 1 speed maneuver, the whole length of your move tool would be in front and likely clashing with so many other components of the game as the fleets come closer to each other. Knowing when to use the front end of the ruler reduces the number of things that need to be remembered and shifted out of the way for the maneuver.

Thanks for the answers, l never checked the real distance on the last notch. But have always thought it was shorter by the looks.

Is this legal

I have maneuver tools in different lengths instead - 4,3,2

Strongly recomend for anyone serious about playing. Buy a second maneuver tool and assemble it as just a 1 speed tool. Than take the other bits, assemble them for a 2 speed tool and trim off the excess that extends beyond the last set of notches. Way easier. Never really needed a speed 3 specific tool though, almost as bulky as the 4 so not as much savings of clutter.
