So can you deploy Han on an Asteroid?

By Crabbok, in X-Wing

Move Han so he moves behind their anticipated 1 forward, then drops the debris right on the lot of them while being safe

Note: This tactic can be used on other ships than PS1 ties that flies first ;)... Ties are just veeery easy to draw from above!!!

Edit: Nevermind, I said a dumb thing

This is the entirety of the rules regarding placing ships:

Place Forces: The players place their ships

into the play area in order from lowest pilot skill

to highest pilot skill. If multiple ships tie in pilot

skill, the player with initiative places his ships

with that pilot skill first. Ships must be placed

within Range 1 of their player’s edge.

Obviously, Han breaks that last part, but that's it. Nothing that would seem to preclude placing Han on top of an obstacle, provided it was beyond Range 3 of an enemy ship. Heck, technically, there's really nothing there that prevents you from starting off with your own ships on top of each other.

If we are being technical, I believe the playmat surface is the play area, therefore if you were to place your YT-1300 on top of another YT-1300 model, for instance, it would technically NOT be in the play area, it would be ABOVE the play area.
