We tried playing without Fate - Now we have questions!

By Frog, in Talisman

My wife and I tried a game without fate. Big mistake, I found it really annoying and it caused problems with Fate cards etc. It was my idea because I wanted to increase Toadings, but I can see why they added this mechanic to the game!

Anyway, we have non-fate related questions.

1. Do you have to take objects even though you have less than 3? I was a spell-caster and drew the amulet which does not allow you to use spells or be attacked by them. I chose to drop it. Is that legal?

2. Riding Horse. Can you roll one die for normal movement and then if you don't like that decide to roll a 2nd for the horse? This method gives you more control over movement.

3. Gaining Life. You can't heal over your life but you can gain/add more life counters right?

You are not required to keep any Objects, Magic Objects, or Followers you draw. You may them on your current space.

No... not that I know of, and if so, it is contradictory to other like rules. Once you roll a die for movement, the roll and the method are what you are stuck with. The only option is to use a Fate point to re-roll one die rolled by your chosen method of movement.

Yes. That is the difference between heal and gain . Gain of a Lives or Fate has no limit. Heal and replentish may only take you up to your Starting Lives and Starting Fate respectively.
