Sell me on Finn...

By Vitalis, in X-Wing

Finn is a stormtrooper and his ability is to miss. Lol.

Love this, problem is he is also a defector trying to join the resistance, so he should have been low cost.

Rebels have been underdogs for a while now, they need new low cost crew to revitalize their ships, or expensive really Palpatine-level crew.

Seriously tho, gunner+finn combo doesnt work, gunner is a new attack so just another new blank attack die, not of any use.

Finn only really comboes with:

Ray

Rebel Han

Lone wolf

System slot with fire-control system

Ptl to take a target lock action (or just take a take lock, but then you need something to defence/reposition)

Eg.

Lothal rebel+FCS+Finn+Hera = 43pt for 5(6 at range 1) attackdice in arc with reroll, could perhaps work..

He makes sure you get at least 1 hit with concussion missiles, (#$%& all focus rolls)

But concussion missiles are not primary weapon attacks.

nevermind.

I'd rather save the 2 points and just run ezra. Sure, you lose the potential to get 6 hits at range 1 (or 5 beyond that), but you have almost the exact same average damage, and ezra should get a lot more crits than finn.

Rebel Han with Finn and Luke/Gunner = 5 modded dice at R1, for 12pts?

I'll take it.

Hmm with VI, MF Title and Engine he's at 64pts.

Now, to find a super tanky/annoying ship for the endgame, for 36pts...

36 Red Ace (29), Comms Relay (3), R2-D2 (4), Integrated Astromech (0)

You don't get much tankier than that. ;)

If you drop Luke down to Gunner, you can replace IA with Autothrusters although I am not sure it is necessary.

Poe with R5-P9 and VI (or Adaptability and AT) is the best fit at 36 points or under in my book.

I like where your going with this. I think Lone wolf is great here and Jake can kick in prokets and bug out quickly when needed.

Han Solo (46)

Lone Wolf (2)

Finn (5)

Luke Skywalker (7)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Millennium Falcon (1)

Jake Farrell (24)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Proton Rockets (3)

Push the Limit (3)

Autothrusters (2)

A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

Total: 98

Remember there were those who thought Palp was too expensive when revealed. So don't judge Finn till you use him.

I even remember people saying he'd only ever be on the Decimator, because the Shuttle was too vulnerable to invest in an 8 point upgrade on it.

In arc only. How often does han actually have stuff in arc? Not very.

With the sloop MF title, quite often.

Which leaves you stressed (because no room for kanan) so no focus and you cant do it every round. And you lose the rvade option. A luke finn new title han is gonna melt in no time flat

I've mostly followed this thread but I need to ask this question.

Why is everyone talking about Gunner and Finn. Surely there is no synergy here as Gunner does not get to keep the extra dice Finn provides.

I see it (with what is known) that Finn's synergy with Rey is obvious... roll 3 dice get 1 or 2 useful dice add a blank and re-roll 2 dice to get another 1 or 2 useful dice. No Actions needed.

Similarly Han "ReRoll" Solo gets a good stab at this extra dice on his "you MUST re-roll all your dice"

Target Lock spent to re-roll any dice of your choosing.

But Luke and Gunner.... sorry that ship has sailed.

Luke and Gunner don't directly manipulate the blank, but Han can then use his ability on the gunner shot to potentially turn Finn's added blank into something useful, again. Finn works on every attack.

Defensive fortress falcons are obsolete. ThE new Falcon is designed to smash before it dies.

I can run a ghost thatll smash harder for less points if thats all i want. Could even use finn still

I get this, but not relying on Fire Support and having PS8-9 and EPTs available is a pretty huge thing. But then again, why not both?

Are you saying I can use Han's ability as much as I like? Statistically speaking I would use it 16 times with Finn's extra dice!

Finn's probably more useful on a ghost than a non-Rey Falcon because FCS is significantly better for him than Han's ability/Lone Wolf. With FCS you're getting 1/2 to 3/4 of a dice.

Once per opportunity. And if gunner procs, you have a new opportunity to use it.

Lambda fragile?

Its stupid durable for the cost. Its almost as hard to take down as the decimator because it atleast has 1 agi to offset the 6hp difference a bit (decimator still takes longer to take out).

Lambda just doesnt move for gak.

Notice that you're the one who said fragile. I said vulnerable. It is vulnerable because it's easy to chase down and kill quickly.
