The Garbage Will Do

By streamdragon, in X-Wing

NewHan will cause some setup changes, im just struggling making him a solo powerhouse without his innate rerolls.

Ditched c3p0, since crack/juke is a thing anyway

EI Lando + Kanan seems wise, TL for action and EI for Lando to hope for focus (heck evades are nice too), Kanan to clear stress freely. Ive done the EI + Lando thing alot and its actually pretty reliable, Lando is only terrible when you are sacrificing your normal action for him since he can still flop and do nothing.

But that puts him at 59pts. Ouch. The heck else would i put in that list other than Z's or a couple bareboned bluesquad b's?

you'll probably want an ept as well. He's pushing 60+ on a 1agility ship.

Good ol' Predator-Gunner-R2D2 New!Han will still be dangerous, sitting just outside range 3 of a Palpshuttle on turn one ...

Old Han + Finn + Jan Ors in HWK = 5 dice at any range, 6 dice at range 1.

Still not sure it could survive for long vs u-boats but I'd love to see the look on the opponent's face :D .

Miranda + Finn + Homing Missile + Lng Rnge Scanner + Jan Ors Hwk = 7 dice strike.

Cue evil laugh... I may actually try this for the laughs. Again, not competitive, but nice...

Finn works on Primary Weapons only.

But.

Finn on Miranda gives her a 5 die PWT at range 1, and LRS give her a strong likelihood of focus + TL.

As if Miranda wasn't bad enough.

Doesn't seem worth it... though budget Miranda just got cheaper. Instead of TLT, take Finn... and only action is spent on target locks. 3 die PWT standard. For 34 points.

Nope, Finn works only in arc.

I tried. I failed. I will likely never use Finn...

Am I alone in not being pleased with the engine glow? If they'd done it all along then it wouldn't be so bad (although personally I don't think static, painted on engine glow looks good), but this being the only ship to have it? How incongruous!

Dengar pays 12 points for a dice, Finn is 5 points for a die than can be modded. granted you need to spend a TL or a EPT like Lone Wolf or Predator, but you put him with old Han and you get to re roll all your dice anyway.

59pts was the end of the build, not with just those crew.

Lone Wolf

Title (Sloop)

EI

Lando

Kanan

Smuggling Compartment

SLAM

Total: 59

The SLAM was literally slapped on there for a "bug out" maneuver. It lets the Falcon dash pretty much across the board (speed 3 large base = speed 5 small ship) into a SLAM 3bank and trigger title to turn around. Suddenly im across the board, and ready to approach as though nothing happened.

The pair of b's might be the best option here. Unless its a large ship or a Defender/Phantom i have real issues with solo ships staying alive for some reason lol

the sky is falling - yet again..

we really need 2 different forum parts; one for people who wanna -play- xwing, one for ... well, my mother told me some manners, so let's just say "the rest that can only talk in hyperbolic absolutes"

With Expose and crew Rey giving you a focus?

There are still a bunch of upgrades we haven't seen yet. There might be something that plays with blank dice.

if FFG is super troll, they'll make that stuff T-70 only :P

there is a card with "Trick" in it, hopefully it's a blank die related ept like LW but not nearly as restrictive so we can use Finn on something other than a **** PWT

Hey there,

I can't wait for this one! But there are some things that are not all clear...

1.) The text says Chewie can use his ability only once a turn...the card does not. So what is right?

2.) Can Finn (for defense) even be used when a ship has 0 evade dice? Since u don't roll any dice, can you add a blank to this? If possible Finn could become playable

I don't know how often the new chewie will be played in standard plays but I can tell for sure it will have some serious impact on epic games. Especially IF his ability may trigger more than once. I am not sure yet but Finn also looks a bit like being more worth a try in epic or custom formats with more than 100 points. Time will tell.

The new Han can completely wreck an aces list (especially Soontir Fel) when being placed clever and being a bit lucky on the rolls. Furthermore he can prevent flanking. Still spending so many points on one ship that needs a specific enemy setup to work is a bit strange. I do not think he will be seen all too frequently on tournaments.

Rey (as crew) is awesome. Can't wait for this card and play some experimental lists. Could be fun with Jan Ors or some other stuff.

Pretty awesome but just rarely mentioned is the burnout slam. Used at a YV-666 makes the ship FAR more viable again since it can turn within one turn although loosing its attack. Still it could be worth a try considering havin one ore more starfighters in his back is the end for a YV-666 now. The new SLAM could prevent this from happening.

Im am really lookin forward to this. Until now I wasn't very happy about buyin a 3rd Falcon but when havin a look at all the cards buyin it won't hurt so much any more :)

Yup, and threads like this reminds me why I stopped posting here nearly as much and why people like VS and others have basically left.

I keep checking the boards but until there's something more interesting then yet another 'Palp breaks the game', 'Scum is OP'ed' and 'New expansion sucks' threads to read... I just don't bother responding much.

I think Finn is priced right. It essentially increases your attack value by 1 and defense value by 1 for 5 points. If you have abilities such as Rey, Old Han, or have things such as FCS on your ship this crew card can prove valuable.

It doesn't seem like you'd need to put a once per round limit on something that only happens when you lose a ship, though.

good point brought up on local group FB:

resistance Han makes Dengaroo (especially the "roo" part) cry

I know we're unlikely to get many FAQs about missions and other non-competitive play, but how will new Han's ability work with missions that use non-standard deployment zones? I feel like he may straight up break a few of the existing missions if his ability is just allowed to happen as printed.

Yeah that could be important.

I just wonder what changed over time .. is it people who wander off other systems to xwing that overreact? is it just a huge influx in rude people who don't even recognise their "know it all, and know it all better"-attitude is quite offensive that come out of nowhere? are people mushrooms ( :D )?

are there "more mature" boards where one can meet a more civilised crowd? .. do we have the coordinates of that rebel base and how can we keep it secret?! ;-)

Outside Ray, as a crew and Titles for Falcon/T-70 ... there is nothing special in this box.

I'm 100% sure that Old Had ability was simply better point/performance ratio, same as Cheewie (new is fun, but not as that competitive if I can be honest).

Finn points is a bad joke.

Time will show, but I'm not seeing this set as must have.

lol I didn't even think about Chewie in Epic until shadowfriend mentioned it. It's almost like FFG doesn't play test these things at all in Epic haha. But seriously, I'm guessing they don't.

probably not as much

base game obviously takes precedent

then again, your huge ship could probably just rip a yt-1300 apart regardless

I think you'd have to ignore his ability in missions or it'd totally mess it up.

Everything so far that I've seen in this expansion just seems.... fine. Finn seems iffy, but nothing is exciting me or dissapointing me. It's all just... fine.

Yeah I immediately thought of this too.

Where's Han as a crew?

When will we ever see that?

It's not like he was flying the Falcon all the time, the guy can do more than direct the yoke and throttle.
