Scum List w/ Scyk(s)

By TaeSWXW, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Long story short, there's an upcoming tournament in my region that is offering bonus prizes for lists containing Scyks (win or lose). I've been in a rut lately so there's no real harm as my win percentage in my last 20 games has been well below .500.

My thinking before I decided to enter the tournament was to fall back on a fairly simple list I enjoy playing: 5x Cartel Marauder (Kihraxz). I've also done variations of this list with a Scyk or two but I'm not sure which one to go with this weekend:

1. 4x Cartel Marauder + 1x Serissu: lots of red dice, rerolls on greens.

2. 3x Cartel Marauder + 2x Cartel Spacer (1x Ion Cannon, 1x Flechette Cannon): still lots of red dice, some additional utility with ion and stress

3. 3x Cartel Marauder + 2x Cartel Spacer (2x Mangler): lots of red dice, better at range three

4. This mess:

- Palob + Opportunist + Blaster Turret + 4-LOM + Moldy Crow

- Drea Renthal + Twin Laser Turret + R4-B11

- Cartel Spacer + Title + Ion Cannon

- Cartel Spacer + Title + Flechette Cannon

If you have Fearlessness, I'd go with Fearless Vets.

Two of those take very little room and can be very rewarding, if you can play aggressively.

Mindlink Vet, HLC title x2 and Manaroo

- lots of fun, wins or loses big, you gotta practice though to get good at the timing and maneuvering

Mindlink vet HLC or Mangler, title Mindlink Guri and or palob

A guy had a list in the squad lists on the forum with 2 vets and a mandalorian merc that looked interesting.

Well if I was to enter that tourney id take

5x Cartell Spacer with guidance chip, heavy scyk, and conc. missles

At 20 points apiece you get a hefty alpha with really reliable damage that together can burn through a heavy target or destroy a couple fighters and you have the equivalent of a small tie swarm afterwards

You can also swap some of the conc. Missles for plasma torps if you want to bid for Ini. Against mirrors but keep most of your firepower.

100 point mini-swarm with Xizor. Use Serissu and evade tokens for damage mitigation. Xizor is your heavy hitter, and can divy up any damage that gets through to a spacer.

I'm a fan of the Manaroo + HLC's attaini vets. Takes practice but can be hella fun. It all depends on your style. I'm more of a mini-swarm pilot preferring 5 to 6 ships. I feel naked with 3 or less ships.

I can vouch for Attanni Manaroo & Vets. Tons of firepower, fairly resilient, and really fun to fly.

TLTs are a pretty hard counter though.

Well if I was to enter that tourney id take

5x Cartell Spacer with guidance chip, heavy scyk, and conc. missles

Why not cluster missiles? Two attacks of three dice from each ship. That one alpha strike has the potential of 30 points worth of damage. There are enough red dice to take down a decimator in one turn.

This was the list I used at the Mt View, Ca. regional this year. It was the first time I played the list and went 3 wins, 2 losses and a draw with it.

Serissu with Mindlink and Mangler (27)

3 x TPV with Mindlink and Mangler (3 x 24)

Total: 99 points.

X4 Buggzappers

The Scyk does more than you might think. Fly it in a block with the scyk bringing up the rear. Block something with your Zs and bugzapp it or take some shots with the mangler to get some crits on a tokenless ship. Torkil just lets you shoot first

Why not tractor beams.....

I really like Mindlink:

Manaroo w/ Mindlink, punishing one, K4 droid, unhinged, slicer tools & tactical jammer = 46

2 TP Vets w/ Mindlink, 'heavy scyk' & HLC = 27 x 2

100

Scyks can in theory be squishy, but not when they get ALL the tokens! ;)
