DASH AA AH - Advise please

By Spaceman91, in X-Wing Squad Lists

On Saturday is a small tournament (every month the store has one) and I fancied super Dash as I haven't really used him in full on super mode.

Dash

Push The Limit

Outrider + HLC

Kanan

Engine upgrade

That was easy, o wait he needs a friend.

So I'm not sure what to take with him. I'm burned out on Corran at the min so he's out. My mind then jumped to Miranda, but I'm open to any advice.

I'll be practicing tonight (Tuesday 6)

Regen Poe or strip/stress Wes (R3-A2, VI, IA) can be good companions with Super Dash.

Recently I've seen some Lothal Rebel builds for a 2 large ship list, LR with FCS and Crew (this can be played around with).

42 Lothal Rebel (35), FCS (2), ABT (2), Han Solo (2), Hera (1)

This is a really solid build and fits perfectly with a 58-point Super Dash. It is a brutal brick of a ship that you throw at your opponent to do as much damage as possible while Dash skirts the engagement and snipes away with his HLC. By the time the Ghost goes down (and it usually does), the remnants of the enemy should be sufficiently mauled that Dash can mop up the leftovers.

If ordnance is big in your area you could always drop Han and the FCS for Reinforced Deflectors and Nien Nunb to give you a bit more durability against high damage attacks.

for funzies a stresshog and proto a refit blocker also work nicely.

You did say Dash A A, so of course you need to run 2 A wings.

Either the Lothal Rebel as Karhedron quote rightly pointed out (I'm using that tonight) or my other favourite option is two X-Wings with Dash.

A couple of weeks back I used 2 Red Sqd Vets with Cool Hand, Targeting Astro and IA to good effect.

Funny you brought this up, as have started flying Dash again, as I got hold of his Alt art card, so I thought I would give him a run out, and have exactly the same problem, which running mate to have with him,

I played Miranda ,with no TLT but bombs, that worked out ok, have thought about Homing missiles on her, and long range scanners, have also considered, but not tried Regen Poe, as I love the T-70, and might work a lot better, when the new box set arrives, making Poe a lot better.

I played last night, three games with a Lothal rebel, with Han, and Intel agent, and FCS and auto turret, did not really get much out of the Intel agent, a couple of turns he got used, but Lothal Rebel did what it needed to dom soaup the damage, and let Dash do his thing.

My thoughts, are that Miranda and Dash make a good pairing, as you can get damage in, rub for a bit, then turn in and do the same again, hit and run tactics.

But am going to follow this with interest, as was gonna make the very same post, just yesterday.

PS9 poe can be loaded to a beefy 42 points, but thats gonna require some crazy good flying.

Try:
Jan Ors, Title, TLT, Engine Upgrade, Vet Inst, Kyle Katarn.

Use boost to keep her out of trouble. Shoot 5 dice HLC shots. Profit.

Trust me on this one. :-)

Update:

I tried miranda TLT C3P0 and I had 4 points spare so she got a shield upgrade. It worked great. I really want to try the Ghost build next though.

Thank you everyone for suggestions.

Update:

It's over.

Didn't have time to practice with the ghost so I stuck with the miranda build.

First 2 games: not a single hit was rolled by me. It got so bad that the 2nd person I played gave me their dice. It peaked after that but too little too late to save that game.

Games 3: I swapped my dice for some other dice (all FFG ones) and I didn't lose a ship and the guy was one shield away from half points on dash.

Game 4: I didn't lose a ship. Took a b wing off the bored in two turns as it had torpedoes and I wasn't gunna let that happen. After that it was just mop up really.

Pulled it back to 4th over all.

Thank you again for the advice and in the near future I will be trying the ghost version of the list as a few there told me they would have chosen the ghost over Miranda (she did a good job though I can't complain).

Good day and apart from one small expletive I took the terrible first two games on the chin.
