My Bro-HWKs are lacking a fourth ship @ 24 points

By Admiral Deathrain, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I have a very casual tournament coming up at a nearby convention. So I thought screw everything, I'll put all of these HWKs on the table for once! There only is one problem: I have 24 points still open and don't know what fits in there. A TLT Y-Wing is not an option, I want something unturreted. I am not entirely set on Palobs build, too, although his ability is so scary that keeping him light sounds smart. The only idea I have right now is a Black Sun Ace with Crackshot, which I am not sure about.

Spice Runner (23)
HWK-290 (16), Twin Laser Turret (6), Zuckuss (1)

Torkhil Mux (28)
HWK-290 (19), Twin Laser Turret (6), Dengar (3)

Palob Godalhi (25)
HWK-290 (20), Adaptability (0) Dorsal Turret (3), Cloaking Device (2)

Any ideas?

That bad boy will distract attention from your HWKs for a turn or two! To find the extra point, maybe drop the Dorsal Turret to ABT or swap Cloaking Device and Adaptability for VI.

Thats a good one, but I don't trust myself with Lone Wolf and 4 ships :D maybe if I have time to practice that (because casual or not I still have ambition), but with more cutthroat tourneys upcoming I find that unlikely.

"Heavy Scyk" Interceptor (Missile) (2)

Crack Shot (1)
Concussion Missiles (4)
Guidance Chips (0)

Total: 24

Ruthless Freelancer- Mist Hunter, Tractor Beam

Both your TLT ships can go after it and will benefit nicely from the tractor beam.

Binayre pirate x2. Blockers to keep opponents out of R1 bubbles plus more ships to hopefully force your opponent to split fire.

Drop Torkhil down to an Ion and Dengar down to Tactician, then add in a Contracted scout with Intel agent. Far more durable and effective a blocker that Z-65s, plus you get a turret and intel agent for all your low PS ships.

Well I specificaly said I didn't want another turret, because 3 of those things is already a tiny bit obnoxious (as in inexcusable on any other ship if you are going to a casual tournament).

Dace Bonearm (32)
HWK-290 (23), Veteran Instincts (1), Ion Cannon Turret (5), Dengar (3)

Torkhil Mux (26)
HWK-290 (19), Twin Laser Turret (6), Zuckuss (1)

Palob Godalhi (25)
HWK-290 (20), Attanni Mindlink (1), Autoblaster Turret (2), Cloaking Device (2)

Kaa’to Leeachos (16)
Z-95 Headhunter (15), Attanni Mindlink (1)

This is what I have been thinking about this morning. I have the point to make Palobs ABT a Dorsal Turret, but to be honest I don't know if he needs the crappy two dice turret, maybe an ABT for range one striking and otherwise being cloaked is the way. Not sure if Mindlink is woth it. The idea is that Palob takes a TL (or no action being stressed), with Kato doing the same thing. Then Palob steals a token and gives Kato one in the process. Kato steals Palobs, giving him a new one through mindlink. Thats great action economy! However. What does a Z-95 do with two tokens? Maybe Dace needs to be toned down for some Missile (Clusters, probably with two mods availiable). But I don't quite like not having Dengar or K4 on him.

Hold on, inspiration! I might have it:

Spice Runner (25)
HWK-290 (16), Twin Laser Turret (6), Zuckuss (1), Feedback Array (2)

Torkhil Mux (28)
HWK-290 (19), Twin Laser Turret (6), Dengar (3)

Palob Godalhi (27)
HWK-290 (20), Attanni Mindlink (1), Autoblaster Turret (2), Cloaking Device (2), Stygium Particle Accelerator (2)

Kaa’to Leeachos (20)
Z-95 Headhunter (15), Cluster Missiles (4), Attanni Mindlink (1), Guidance Chips (0)

The Spice Runner gets even more ace hate, Palob becomes an asassin that only uncloaks to jump into ability range or deliver terrifying blows to aces. Kaa'to as the final puzzle peace delivers the burst and lives long enough (hopefully) actually do so consistently. I belive this is perfect. Shenanigans to no end, Mindlink which I have been itching to try for a long time now, all of my favourite HWKs...it is a dream, I dearly hope it holds up well enough in practice. I might even take this to a bigger tournament if it turns out to be strong, thats an oddball if I have ever seen one!

Thank you all for your ideas, you did get my creativity flowing a lot!

Update: Looks like wave 9 is coming sooner rather than later. That opens up exciting new options for me! The Feedback Array on the Spicer was an afterthought anyways, it can easily be replaced by something new. Other places to scratch up points are hard to come by, sadly. It hurts, but maybe the SPA has to be cut. Because I really want two things: BMSTs for the TLT ships (maybe not on the Spice runner and on Kaa'to instead) and Latts Razzi on Palob.

SPA vs. Latts: SPA stops working when the Cloaking Device fizzles. That is a huge downside! It does however not require your opponent to do something for you to work, which I like a lot. Then on the other hand, Latts can't be prevented by 4-LOM. Latts probably wins. I'd like some opinions on this.

2 BMSTs vs. one Feedback Array: BMSTs again need my opponent to do something and have a chance attached, but I can afford two, they cover a greater area and distribute points. BMST on Torkil is pretty great since at range two he still gets to modify his dice decently.

Both of these upgrades hate on stress. The problem is that Defenders for example absolutely invalidate that and I don't see them dropping in popularity. They might however already hate my ABT/TLT shenanigans enough without ATs for that not to matter too much. I think Latts replacing SPA is set, but I am not sure on Feedback or BMST.

Edit: Current version

This but with VI not Lone Wolf. Also, Guidance Chips.
