I think the perfect medium going forward with Descent (and for a possible 3rd edition) would be an app with the option of acting as AI overlord (like we have now) or allowing the same(ish) campaign with a human playing as OL. The human OL version would be able to handle search tokens, travel events, etc. while tracking gold and XP (basically what the online campaign tracker does now) while providing the voice over narration.

You mean, Descent first edition?

Edit: to clarify, the first edition was also 'secret' for the hero players. Only the OL knew how the map would unfold tile by tile.
