Scum is the new "Palp Aces"

By Rinzler in a Tie, in X-Wing

Good job, everyone. You begged and begged and your overlords obliged.

Scum: The new uber-dominate faction that pushes damage through (Zuckuss, Slicer Tools, Feedback Array, and 4-LOM) and doesn't give a **** about your 3-dice primary because the ships that run with these crew have more hull/shields than your whole Imperial list combined. Want to PS-9 arc dodge? Ha. See those 180°/360° arcs? See that firing arc that MOVES?

Whisper. Nerfed, softly. Dies to Zuckuss and stress.

Fel, Inquisitor. Dies to Zuckuss, Slicer Tools and stress.

I'd go on but my plane is about to take off.

Tell me I'm wrong while I'm in the air.

Somebody can actually push damage through the wall of green dice, autothrusters, all sorts of tokens and allmighty Palp?

I say it's a great day indeed. Nothing is worse than turn after turn trying to push that damage through while being slowly chewed through...

As a mostly Imperial player, can we as a faction drop the entitlement into a gravity well or something?

Well Impstires are getting another shoot 'em up TIE...

No, Palp Aces is the new Palp Aces. Especially with Defenders.

All of this hyper offensive scum stuff has become necessary in order to actual get damage through.

I gave my opponent my Advanced Proton Torpedo Dengaroo variant. I was stupid enough to park Vessery at range 1 of Dengar, so he fired off a 5 hit APT at me. I rolled blank blank focus evade, and after Zuckuss ended up rolling the same thing.

A SINGLE ******* DAMAGE from a 5 hit attack. That's how ridiculous damage mitigation has gotten. Palp Aces ships are invincible and you need this level of firepower to ever hit anything. You can shrug off 4 hit U-Boat torps even easier.

A bunch of greedy Imperial players who are mad that something can actually hit Soontir for once. And a bunch of no-skill rebel players angry that they can't play Poe Han or Super Dash or something else obnoxious and dominate. I honestly don't know which group I hate more.

Sad part is that you're not wrong. Scum are currently too flexible and too powerful. Not unbeatable, just too too for most builds to face.

I'm sure there will be plenty of folks who believe I'm wrong. But when it takes ridiculous luck for 99% of Rebel builds to get past the first turn of shooting with enough ships to stay in the game.... I can't speak to the Imperial side of things. I've yet to face modern S&V with Imperials (I've been playing Rebels most of the time.) so I've no real idea how well non-Palp based Imperials fare. And I'm mostly guessing with Palp lists based on facing them with Rebels.

I think Zuckuss is by far the single most OP thing Scum has right now. If it was "once per round," it would have been okay. If it had a cap to the number of stress tokens you could pile on, it would have been okay. But as it stands, its just way too powerful.

One huge sleeper that I've discovered is my Kath + Bossk list (see my signature). It has a near-perfect record. Particularly, Bossk + Concussion Missiles + Chips + Dengar + Zuckuss + 4-LOM can easily one-shot Soontir or the Inquisitor in the opening shot, even when tokened up and backed by Palp. I've seen it happen several times. I've walked all over Palp Aces with this list. The only loss I have was a direct result of purely awful red dice. They whiffed in that incredibly rare way that is, nonetheless, always a possibility.

Double Ghost Y-Wing is very competitive.

Rebel players are just angry that the top 4 table at store championships no longer have 6 fat turrets on them. 6 fat turrets between 4 players, what skill!

I am super glad that you guys are unhappy. The game is much better without fat turrets and regen.

As is wes corran biggs. And dash/vcx has been pretty effective.

Nah palp aces is still pretty much palp aces.

Palp aces is always going to be better than any other list for survivability against any given threat because palp is something no other build will ever have access to.

You're wrong. Happy to oblige

It doesn't steamroll, that's the problem many Rebel players address.

Maybe they are just a bit nostalgic, because for a very long period of time they had all the good toys and now there are other good yous and they feel themselves betrayed.

The fact that that pleases you makes you a bit of a jack ass, but fortunately that's not my problem.

So a Defender with a focus token, evade token, Stealth Device and Palp (I'm assuming) was able to absorb a 5-hit attack, but still took damage that knocked out his Stealth Device and still forced him to burn Palp and all defensive tokens?

Not seeing the problem here.

If palp aces is so no talent unbeatable, what is a team that beats it consistantly called then? Also that does well against pretty much anything else? I'm not saying that palp himself is not op but scum power creeped right with it. Rebels need an answer for this whole mess and we'll be in a perfectly balanced hell. I'd gladly get rid of palp if scum got rid of the jumpmaster. Neither is gonna happen though.

These anti palp threads are getting hilarious.

PhantomFO hit the nail right on the head.

The fundamental issue being that basically anything else would have taken 3 or more hits, and it had to be 5 hits to get anything to land at all. Any less and it would have been laughed off.

SOOOOO happy to know there are 3 upgrades in the entire game to beat the most popular list in the game which perform rather poorly against non ace lists.

Except Conners. There should be more conners because nothing wants to get hit by a Conner.

Interesting question is: is Zuckuss more 'way too powerful' than Palpatine ? :P

Is Zuckass without 4-lom really that powerful? You still have your turn to modify your green dice after your opponent has used Zuckass.

Yes. Not up for debate.

Your chances of rolling an evade are literally halved with Zuckuss: 50% down to 25% across each dice.

that's only broken if you're relying on green dice
