With the Rebels getting a TIE, is it only fair the Imperials get an Astromech?

By Archangelspiv, in X-Wing

Sure, as a crew card.

Eta-2, ARC-170, V-wing, Y-wing, all confirmed to have been Imperial ships in the early days of the New Order.

But we can't have non-TIEs for Imps! And we can't have Astros either.

As above, crew droids would be great, they are missing on the imperial side.

No imperial astomechs before a mouse droid.

No imperial astomechs before a mouse droid.

I think a mouse droid that is simply a -1 cost crew could actually be pretty funny.

The Empire using astromechs is not a new concept.

I agree that Imperial astros as crew would make a lot of sense (that's basically how the Empire used them after ditching all their astromech-compatible fighters), as a new upgrade, not so much, it'd require a new update type for 2-3 ships.

Yeah mouse droid first!

They'd need to come up with an entirely new slot, as the current Astromechs are not tagged with Rebel Only. R2D2 on an Imperial vessel would be like putting Palp in the crew slots of a Falcon.

It'd be a crew member: astromech is Rebel Only because the astromechs aren't tagged as that. That's why Salvaged Astromech had to be made.

Yes the empire uses astromechs but....

1- they aren't used in their fighters the way the rebellion does

2- they are different droids.

I just don't see FFG just adding the astromech icon to any of there fighters and enabling them to take r2d2. I don't see them doing this (because of #1) but if they did it would probably be a different icon they'd way FFG did with scum. However I think they could add crew cards that are clearly astromechs.

Rebel tie fighter, Imperial firespray, Scum Ywing. The force is in balance.

The Canon imp droids were more for the distateful jobs, Interrogator Droid, Assassin droid, spy droid.. No reason they couldn't be brought in as crew.

Rogue One Former imperial droid K-2SO would be great as a rebel crew, but then give Empire another crew card with the same kind of droid, but without the reset good guy personality. The crews should then reflect the very different way to function as a droid within the SW universe.

Also I dont think The Empire should get astromechs other than crew cards.

During the *GALACTIC CIVIL WAR*, the Empire did not use any craft that utilized an astromech slot. The only reason Rebels now have an ARC-170 is because a handful were used during the Galactic Civil War.

As far as crew, sure, who cares. It's just crew. But during the timeframe of the game, being Galactic Civil War to about New Republic era, Imperials did not use Astromechs in their craft.

And yeah astromechs as crew could totally happen for the Empire, but I highly doubt they will EVER get an actual Astromech slot-- it literally makes NO sense on the fighters they use in game.

And if they ever make the V-wing Starfighter, I bet it will be Rebel (just like the ARC-170) and/or Scum, not Imperial.

Also love how people make the comments that this faction got this, so its only fairthat this other faction gets this...its not like players of said faction wanted said thing sometimes. I cant think of many Rebel players that were saying I want that Yellow Tie Fighter from Rebels with Sabine and Zeb as pilots.

The only thing out of that epansion I wanted before it got release was Ashoka as a crew (not gettign that-- since she is a pilot only from what I could tell) and Rex as a crew (getting him as crew and pilot).

Though I admit, getting a ship that has an illicit is kinda nice for Rebels (other than the Yts once HOTR comes out.

ARC-170 and make an new upgrade slot, Imperial Astromech. Use a mouse droid icon.

BT-1 crew confirmed.

Yes.

Perhaps a Title for the Lambda Shuttle? Otherwise, besides Capitol ships where were they used?

Crew card only no new ships, would live to see his ability be an evil r2d2 instead of gaining a shield you can loose a shield if you choose to do so roll an extra attack die or just add a hit result to your roll

A new upgrade slot, that does what? What would make Imperial Droids different from Imperial crew? If there are only going to be 1-2 Imperial droid carrier ships, why bother?

The alternative for, say, an imperial V-Wing, would be to create a few "small ship only" crew cards. This would let them do interesting things with a few ships (like the Phantom...), but not have to worry about- say- turning all the 1 speed maneuvers on a Decimator green.

Whisper should definitely be able to equip R5-P9. She needs the help to stay relevant.

I too would like to see an Imp R2 droid (as Crew).

If it was "Huge ship only", repairs and damage mitigation have already been covered, so perhaps something like:

"When you reveal your dial, you may discard this card to double the amount of Energy indicated by the maneuver."

(and done before applying Ion token effects as a counter)
