Three Hunters Deck

By PsychoRocka, in Strategy and deck-building

So I just made some massive changes to my decks and am now trying out a Three Hunters deck featuring the new version of Gimli and the old version of Legolas alongside Tactics Aragorn.

I have only played a few quests with the decks so far but they are running fairly well. A few main issues is a lack of enough offensive power at times (due to the loss of Elladan being able to attack multiple foes per turn) as well as not being able to defend against all foes as safely (due to the loss of Elrohir as the main defender). I have attempted to minimize these weak points by including more defensive allies such as the Guardian of Arnor and more readying effects such as Armoured Destrier and Descendants of Kings.

I would love some feedback or ideas for other cards I should include or cards I should take out of the decks. I will provide explanation as to why certain cards are included or what their purpose is in the decks based on any feedback I get so that the decks make sense but don't take this as me not taking the feedback onboard as I welcome any and all suggestions!

An event I would like to include at the moment is Skyward Volley but I have nothing I can think of removing from the deck... I also feel like Boromir ally would be a very decent addition as well as he can potentially defend multiple attacks (especially thanks to Halbarad) or can defend then attack in certain situations.

Dwarven Shield isn't included as Steward is enough resource acceleration and it doesn't provide 2 defense like Shield when paired with Steward and doesn't provide reading like Armoured Destrier does. Many quests have hard hitting enemies very early on and I prefer having a hero with at least 4 or 5 defense on the first turn after planning.

Gimli's ability is sort of put to better use on Aragorn or Elrond than on Legolas as Elrond can defend a strong enemy attack and cancel shadow effects through Burning Brand and Aragorn can quest for 3 with StwB and then also attack for 3 and potentially trigger his engagement ability as well. This is why only Hands Upon the Bow is included and why I am not running cards like Quick Strike or Great Yew Bow as well. Also I cannot find space for either and think that Skyward Volley would be a far better addition than either of these anyway due to it working well with King under the Mountain and its potential late game to take out an enemy or two on its own or to take out an especially strong foe in one hit. It also doesn't require Legolas and one of the Ranged allies can be used to trigger it which still leaves Legolas ready and available for attack without the use of Gimli's ability so it can instead be used on Aragorn or Elrond if need be.

Looks like an interesting pair of decks...might give them a try at some point. Still, never thought we'd see the day you didnt use the twins!

I know right... it was so hard to replace them...

so far so good though!

Uhm, I don't get it... with three tactics heroes and no songs.. how do you play all the purple cards?

Tactics Gimli is the proxy for new Leadership Gimli.

Updated the decks a fair bit:

Going to try each cycle from start to finish with the new decks to see how many attempts each quest takes.
