Like I said on the FB post, we better get a good podcast on this!

List of fleets etc somewhere?

Gratz Steve!

Liberties, liberties everywhere.

Yeah I think I saw a liberty and/or ISD on every table

Very well run event. All 5 of my opponents were awesome dudes who I'd happily play again any time.

I ran: Cracken the Crackelator

CR90a + Turbolaser Reroute + Cracken

CR90a + Turbolaser Reroute + Raymus Antilles + Tantive IV

CR90a + Turbolaser Reroute

CR90a + Turbolaser Reroute

Medium Transport + Torryn Farr + Bright Hope

8x YT-2400

395 Points. I had Most Wanted, Hyperspace, Superior

Round 1 was against Daryle's Y-Wing Bonanza. He had 9 Y-Wings, 3 A-Wings, 2 gups w/ ECM, Flight Controllers, and Boosted Comms, a bomber command flotilla, and a comms net flotilla + Garm. I was 2nd in Superior Posiitons. He got more points than me and knocked out 7 of my YT-2400s. I knocked out a smattering of his fighters and one guppy for very narrow, last shot win.

6-5

Round 2 was against Mike Fitzpatrick's Imp Jouster. He had 2 ISD IIs, and some squadrons- Vader, Soontir, a Jumpaster, and some others- I forget a bit. We also played Superior. Mike was very new to Armada, and hopefully learned a thing or two about slippery Vettes and why 8 YT-2400s can make Superior Positions an ugly matchup!

10-1

Round 3 was against James Steele. He had MC80 Command + Home One, MC80 M'Lady + Quad Turbolasers, 2 Flotillas (I think?), and a smattering of fighters. I went 2nd and he also chose Superior.

In the end we managed to take down his Home One + fighters for a few YT losses of my own.

9-2 I think.

Round 4 was against Gregg Whittaker's Rieekan MC80 Assault w/ Defiance, 2 SW7 CR90Bs, 1 Jaina's CR90a, Tycho + 3 A-Wings, Dash + 1 YT-2400. We circled for most of the game with almost no shots fired. In the end, I knocked out his TRC Vette with my own Vette jumping out of hyperspace, but I forgot the MoV for a 7 pointer was 60, so it was a 6-5. Very bloodless game until the end.

Round 5 was against John Sergent's Imps. He had an ISD II + Motti, Insidious, Demolisher, a repair crews flotilla. Soontir, 2x Advanceds, 2x TIEs. I was player 2 in hyperspace. My YTs knocked out his squadrons early and went to work on Demolisher. I underestimated how tough Demo would be to bring down with engineering commands + that repair crews flotilla. He just about got away, but my last YT-2400 activation did him in. We managed to burn down Insidious to massed TRC fire, and a double arc took down the Flotilla. I honestly don't even remember what the score on this one was- 8-3 I think? MoV was right around 200 iirc.

In 5 games I went 2nd every time, lost lots of YT-2400s but never lost a ship. Great, well run tournament. Hats off to them and to the convention for being awesome.

TONS of M'Ladies there.

Squadrons were everywhere?

That list is Crak-a-lackin Steve.

I still think you paid off the opponents! :D

I can't believe I was able to pull back to the top 6. My first game was against Sean, who came in 2nd and I've played at two other tournaments, and he beat me by 220, just enough to get a 9-2. My next two games were 8-3 and 10-1 wins, and then I met the 4th place player, who had a ton of Y-Wings and A-wings with flotillas and AFMKIIs. In the end he got my Liberty, converting a close win for me into a loss for me. Really great player, and that one went 6-5 with me losing. Last game was also really fun and I squeaked out an 8-3 win, giving me 6th by the skin of my teeth. I love 5 rounds, not only do we get to play more games, but it also feels less swingy, and you can rebound from a bad loss. Congrats to everyone! Great tournament run by a great staff.

Was 5 rounds all in one day?

No, it was three rounds on Thursday and two on Friday. More than three rounds in one day is rough, in my opinion.

Was 5 rounds all in one day?

Over two days (Thursday and Friday)

Yah I have played 4 a couple times now in one day and was done....

Wimps

Wow. Corvettes can be pretty hard to catch, but to go 5 games as second player and not lose one is pretty massive. Well done Steve!

24 players? Isnt that only 3 rounds?

The next time you build a list for a tourney, remember there will be a guy with 8 YTs. That's truly been a "thing" lately. It is devastating if you go with a light squadron build.

But there will also be the guy with only interceptors who brought them to deal with the YT's and Rhymer.... and you dont need squads to deal with them...

You also don't need squads to deal with YT's...

Are you sticking it out without squads? Whats the plan to deal with squadron swarms?

I playtested a squadronless fleet in this tournament and I believe its possible. QLT's and double-dice AA give enough flak to start dropping squadrons just in time.
