The Rebel Alliance is an alliance of rebel groups.
Some are a little less "morally upstanding" than others.
The Partisans are rebels, led by Saw Guerrera, that take a "win at all costs" view on the war against the Empire, whereas the Rebel Alliance tries to fight the moral and just war - without sacrificing ideals.

Indeed. It could also be included in a two pack with another x-wing, as a way to include and expand on Wedge's Phantom Squadron, from Aftermath: Life Debt, which includes a roster washouts and misfits. Sadly, said roster does not list any actual names, but, I suspect many of the old Rogues could pop up there.

Sounds like the Partisans are going to be facing heavy loses in this movie, and what's left get absorbed into the larger Alliance. Hopefully this movie also proves the X-wing was a common fighter among planetary and system defense forces and was a fighter that was easy to get (and 'steal') for cash strapped Rebels and Partisans.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but that's a slightly different design is it not? The detailing on the wings near the engines and the added long strip on the top front (running from cockpit to 'nub')
We're talking TIE to TIE/fo levels of difference...
