Wait, what? Wave 10 hidden gem...

By KineticOperator, in X-Wing

Am I the only one who noticed the following;

"What else do we know? We know that even before you can watch these ships race across the big screen, you will be able to fly them in your X-Wing™ space battles."

So... Rogue One is out on December 16th. If they know we will be able to play with these ships before the movie, do we expect Wave 10 by December?

They could theoretically split the wave like they did with Wave 8. But since they're aren't being as secretive about this addition and we know they've had more time/information to work on Rogue One stuff relative to TFA, I'm guessing that they'll be able to have it out by then. At least I hope!

Nope. They just understand how Vassal works.

Thanks goodness information that we receive from FFG articles is always so reliable. I'm going to rest assured that this will happen. Yup. It'll definitely pay off. Getting my hopes way, way up there.

Yeah, this was actually the first thing I looked for (I scrolled down to the bottom before reading anything else). Before the movie seems to be excessively optimistic... But that tells me they've got plans in motion.

So I'm all for it!

i dont believe anything the FFG articles say that isnt in card image form.

Almost every odd movement they introduce and try to explain they screw up horribly. Least they fixed this one's screwup promptly.

You know they've gotten card images wrong, too, right? The spoilers image for the Shadowcaster was changed day-of to swap out a pilot (Assaj Ventress was NOT present in the originally posted line up).

I'd guess just the Rogue One ships will be out for the movie. It's the most critical from the marketing point of view, and probably easier than getting the whole bunch in stores (not that I really know).

They rushed the TFA core so I bet they're doing the same thing here.

Noticed that right away.

I'm sure they will be out before the movie... no sarcasm.

That's not really a news, the previous WX article said it will be released this year.

I think this one will be on time, they just can't be late or they will miss the movie hype, they weren't late for TFA and there wasn't much time between wave IX announcement and release, which is for sure this month.

The TIE/fo Fighter and T-70 X-Wing were advertised as part of Wave 8 and got released in time for The Force Awakens, but the tradeoff was a 3 month delay on the other Wave 8 ships. I wouldn't be surprised if we got a repeat of this. Though hopefully not 3 months.

The two new items are listed as in development, while the rest of the wave is listed as at the printer. FFG could still distribute them simultaneously after they've received both batches, though.

Even more importantly, would these ships be released 11+ days before Worlds??? I doubt FFG would do that, but in the off-chance Disney is pulling the strings and wants them out early, that could affect a lot of last-minute playtesting.

I'm thinking that the Striker and U-wing will be out the day of the movie....

Just like I said weeks ago when people were wondering what SKU 58 was...but still doesnt solve what that mystery is.

I just figured that Striker or U was 58 nd the other was 62, not that they would be 62 and 63.

The rest of the wave, who knows when it'll be out. Not really eagerly awaiting much of it either (other than possibly tryign out Black Market Slicer tools or illegal cloaking on the Rebel Tie just for random fun)

Not that I'm having any faith in FFG's shipping/delivery process, but the article literally says that all of wave X, including the two new ships, will be in stores before Rogue One drops:

" Along with all the rest of Wave X , the U-wing Expansion Pack and TIE Striker Expansion Pack are scheduled to arrive at retailers before the movie releases!"

Of course, "are scheduled" isn't exactly a promise of the higher order. And I'd expect them to have to delay Rogue One to actually meet this plan.

But, yeah, does seem like they're planning on everything.

I'd be OK with that, actually. Unlike the rest of the wave, these two have me excited.

I do think this will be out in time and I am sure that Disney is aware of the market potential for people to physically see the models. All feeds into each other.

Didn't they have a design team changeout.

Also last year, wasn't The Force Awakens movie delayed in its release but the products manufacturers locked in. I don't forsee the same problem again.

Considering a Rogue One Release weekend at my LGS with demos and tournaments to include, HofAC run of the missions and anyone can join in at the beginning of any mission. IA demos, Young Kids (assisted) and Kids X-Wing Tournament. A cyclic EPIC scenario (but not sure how to do that one yet), and something for Armada. Will have to find some card guys since I have stayed away in monetary fear.

My local has told us that pre-orders have to be in by the end of the month, due to the wave being on the shelves before the end of the year. They did remark it was incredibly tight timing, but that it is happening before Christmas.

Raider.

That is all.
