That's it! I'm outta here!

Ah, gotta love them clickbait titles! :)

Anyway, I'm gonna fall off the radar for the next week. I'm off on a road trip to drive Route 66 - or at least a portion of it - Arizona through Texas. I might stick my nose in a couple of more times today before I roll out, but when I suddenly go radio silent, you'll know why.

For those of you curious, here's some photos from my last attempt at Route 66 over Christmas. That's when like three storm fronts moved in over the west coast, the left half of the US was covered in snow and Texas was flattened by tornadoes. I decided to abort. :)

Catch you all on the 12th!

Have fun!

Don't forget Standin' on the Corner Park in Winslow, AZ. ;)

Absolutely! Actually my hotel in Winslow is directly across from The Corner and I fully intend to stand there during my stay.

Enjoy your kicks..

We merely passed through on our way to Vegas. Words cannot express how giddy my wife was to 1) pass through Winslow, 2) discover the Corner existed, and 3) stop for a few minutes to play tourist at the Corner.

I hate driving through Texas.

I hate driving through Texas.

So do I.

And I live here. :P

I hate driving through Texas.

Well, having never been to Texas, I'm okay with finding out for myself. Besides, it cant be any worse than eastern Washington!

It is never okay to mess with Texas, even if Texas messes with you first.

That is correct. If you do, the Fabulous Thunderbirds will appear to kick your tuckus.

Aww, I was told that ZZ Top would be appearing and kicking my ass tonight!

I thought it was Walker: Texas Ranger's turn?

Nah. Near as I recall, neither ZZ Top nor Walker ever did "Don't mess with Texas" songs and/or commercials. But the Fabulous Thunderbirds one still runs from time to time, despite few remembering them or their hit single that was rewritten for the campaign.

Chuck Norris needs no turn to kick your ass.

Safe trip!

And here is a fun fact for you! Texas takes 18 hours to drive from El Paso to the Louisiana border.

Better Route 66 than Order 66.

Good riddance! You're always complaining, and whenever I read your posts for some reason I smell bad potatoes.

Watch out for black helicopters. I hear they are onto you.

Better Route 66 than Order 66.

Although closer than you'd think. Highway 6 through Nevada (the one that turns off to Area 51) is called the Grand Army of the Republic Highway. No, seriously.

YOU MIS-SPELLED POTATO!

Rah! Get off my **** lawn!

The sun has ris, the sun has set, and we ain't out of Texas, yet.

The title is pretty much what my character Tresk said after not getting anything for the group's kyber crystal caper. It coincides with my change in location.

What part of Texas? I am moving to Austin area in the near future

I live here, but I don’t mind too much driving in Texas.

So long as I don’t have to drive the entire length of it.

A few hours up to Dallas, or over to Houston, or a couple of hours down to San Antonio is fine.

Fortunately I'm just driving across the Sticky Uppy bit in the north, 177 miles, according to Google Maps. Mind you, last time I drove 66 in December, it took me all day to drive about 80 miles, what with all the stopping at tourist traps and the like - so who knows!

It's a general toss up between driving across Kansas and driving across Texas for the most boring drives ever. Texas is probably worse, because of its width. From personal experience, crossing the middle part of Wyoming is brutally boring, although it's a pretty short drive that can be done in a day.

Which reminds me of a few jokes.

Have you heard of that scenic highway through Kansas?

It's a tunnel that crosses underneath it.

Or that scenic route through Georgia?

It's a bridge that goes over the state.

Awww, Georgia wasn't so bad. Seeing the Cotton fields was kind of cool to this Northern Boy.
