SWX58 Still missing

By Sabine, in X-Wing

Yes, but the movie stills are shot so that you're looking UP at the Xwing (or at least level with it) so you can't see if there's a droid socket or not. At those angles, unless the droid was stll in the socket, you wouldn't be able to tell if it had one or not.

Not really - look at the CGI mockup shot. You can see that the droid's head actually raises above the cockpit frame a little bit (which is how it looks in the movies, and how our current models look). At least the front-angle shot of the partisan X-Wing lets you see a view that should have the astromech, if it was present.

And certainly the shot of the crashed ship would have it - from that one, you can see that there is not only no astromech, but there isn't even an opening for one.

No way you can see an opening of lack of thereof in that crashed photo.

Unless SWX58 is an Epic-scale Scum ship that comes with the Partisan X-Wing...

This is currently the theory that seems most right to me.

It would re-balance the numbers of small ships, explains there being no need for an ID token, and if the epic ship is a Rogue One spoiler it would explain why it hasn't been announced yet.

Take another look at the Hotwheels miniature packaging.

A starfighter certainly doesn't need a droid to fly,

so just because you don't see one doesn't mean it can't have it.

On the actual miniature the astromech is white so it blends in,

but it's also very small just like on their miniature for Black One.

Partisan X-wings as Scum and Villainy doesn't make sense to me;

can someone when explain to me where this idea came from?

I mean you're talking about Rebel against Extreme Rebel added to the game?

Because they are willing to use more violence methods doesn't make them S&V.

So I don't imagine that it will be a S&V Epic ship like the GR75 - with an X-wing.

Does anyone hope that SWX58 is Phoenix Squadron? I know it isn't likely,

but we have so much content from the Rebels cartoon that it wouldn't surprise me.

  • Gonzanti Assault Carrier
  • Inquisitor's Protoyype
  • VCX-100
  • Assault Shuttle
  • Sabine's TIE fighter
  • Protectorate Starfighter
  • Shadow Caster
  • Phoenix Home (armada)

Well I haven't seen this theory before. Though I have been expecting a scum epic ship.

So a scum x-wing....

Salvaged astromechs are good enough to make T-65's decent. Or at least better than all other scum small ships.

Perhaps it would have extra cards to convert Rebel X-wings for scum use as there is no SKU for a separate pack.

Scum would have a 'fixed' T-65 before Rebels :)

I would still rather have buffs for the Starviper, Scyk, and Kihraxz first :(

Eh...why would it suggest that?

The X-Wing and Y-Wing in that pic are in Rebel colors, not Partisan colors?

Personal theory about the movie: set up like Magnificent Seven, where the first half of the movie is Jyn and Cassian rounding up a group of very different characters to go on their mission, last half of movie is the mission. Saw's Partisans are a very independent group of terrorists as the movie starts (so...Scum), flying X-Wings, but through events of the movie and actions of our heroes the movie ends with them formally joining the Rebellion and contributing their X-Wings to the Rebel fleet for the events we see in Episode IV.

The Y-Wings we already know how the Rebels got - that was covered in the season 3 opener for the 'Rebels' TV series.

"Terrorists" fighting the Empire => Rebels. Partisians => Rebels.

Rebels from Rebels got only 5 Y-wings, there were more at Yavin.

Maybe, maybe not. You are making an assumption, here, and demanding it is fact - whereas I'm just pointing out that this might not be the case. We'll find out for sure in a couple weeks, anyway.

Rebels from Rebels got only 5 Y-wings, there were more at Yavin.

There were only 8 Y-Wings at Yavin. In one episode, the Rebels managed to grab 5 Y-Wings (which they did say in dialog were going to that cell, so we know that 5 of those 8 definitely were the Y-Wings our intrepid heroes stole). It's not hard to imagine they had a couple on-hand, already, or that the Lothal cell manages to grab a few more over the course of the season.

Either way, they supplied most of the Y-Wings used at Yavin.

We don't yet know where the X-Wings used at Yavin came from. (And boy do movie studios seem to love an 'origin story' - ergo the reason I think Rogue One is going to be the explanation for where those came from)

The Rebels probably allready hat thousands of X-Wings and Y-Wings at hand. Otherwise the Empire wouldn't even bother to hunt them down.

They obviously didn't - 'Rebels' s3 ep1 seems to make a pretty good point that the 5 Y-Wings they captured were a pretty significant boost. And ep3 of the same season has them going to some serious lengths to add just 2 more trained pilots to the fleet.

No, I think it's a bit more clear that the Rebellion is basically exactly what we saw... I mean, the Battle of Endor was basically their one-shot-at-victory-Hail-Mary play...it was literally their entire fleet, every ship and fighter, at the peak of their power. And that amounted to, what, no more than a couple dozen ships and maybe a few hundred fighters?

The Empire was only hunting the "Rebellion" because Palpatine feared the possibility of the Jedi coming back. There was nothing about their numbers that was ever a direct threat.

It could be a rebel huge ship... That would certainly enrage everyone who wants a scum huge ship...

I still think it's Rebel Vets, X-Wing and E-Wing. They probably assigned the number long ago, but play testing is proving it tricky to balance. Maybe they really are doing something crazy like a Stealth X

You could just as easily see the same conversation happening in a cabinet meeting including a Navy Admiral and Army General, today, regarding ISIS.

Just because an enemy is 'well equipped' enough to be merely 'dangerous' does not mean they are building fleets of warships, or have anything like parity in any capability.

Military branches do not like losing units. Acknowledging that an enemy has grown into enough of a threat that it is now remotely possible that you might take losses fighting them does not indicate any kind of parity, just 'danger'.

Dialog in 'Return of the Jedi' was quite clear. That was the entire Rebel fleet - all of it, everything they had. It was their 'one chance' at winning, and they knew full well 'we won't get another'.

Oh no, in legends "Sci-Fi writers have no sense of scale" was almost completely removed.

Id'd be sad if Disney would follow the trope again.

Regarding Endor:

In the movie there are about 12+ Mon Cal cruisers. Going from the Home One scenes we can estimate a ratio of 1 Mon Cal to 10 smaller cap ships.

So roughly 130 Rebel capital ships at Endor. Fighters would be around 1000. This also fits with the numbers established in the EU.

I've to mention that I also liked the Expanded Universe idea of the Rebel Fleet having 3% the size of the Imperial Navy thus giving them 100k vessels.

I want this to be x-wing and e-wing fix so finally my playmates can stop complaining about it ;_;

It doesn't matter what their colors there, they match the ship types in the movie.

There are two different colors schemes for the X-wing (Rebel & Partisan)

Therefore there could also be two different color schemes for the Y-wing,

the second being unseen as yet.
