Would you rather see FFG do new content or EU content?

Well, I did get a wild hair the other night and began making notes for this little conversion...

I'd buy the hell out of that, Nytwyng.

The good news is, once the conversion is done, you won't have to.

Can't put out an ETA on it, though, as it will depend on availability of free time during what is our busiest time of year at work. But, most of the heavy lifting is done...there's not really anything wrong with the text, it will mostly be a matter of converting stats to the current system, formatting it all to the FFG look, and trying to decide if things like saber rake and house troubleshooter should just be NPC stat blocks or also perhaps universal specs.

I did put together a Swordsman specialization for my own fun and use; it's basically just a means for accessing Parry without purchasing a FS specialization, but I mixed a bit of dual wielding melee/brawl elements into it as well, similar to Gunslinger. You can use it as a base if you want.

I may take you up on that.

No, it doesnt. No interconnection means that people only buy what they are interested in.

I fail to see how buying only what I'm interested in is a bad thing.

It means RPGers dont buy minis and mini gamers dont buy RPGs. That is pretty much by definition not stronger.

The RPG books sell out without needing the mini players to buy them. And based on everything we've been able to suss out ..... the mini line makes bank. So keeping them separate hasn't hurt their strength at all.

Plus, you assertion that making the games interconnected means they all have to play the same is not correct. You are also assuming that the rules have to be identical for every usage.

I never made that claim so there is that. What I claimed about interconnected play was that it stiffles their individual identity. Keeping them separate allows each line to focus on what makes it fun and exciting for those players. What's appealing about the rpg is different than what's appealing about mini's play. And while it might not be the same it would require them to meld together. For instance adding mini's means you change the current combat model (which a lot of us love btw) into a tactical combat model. That's unavoidable in mini's play.

It would not take that much effort to make rules to use the stuff in the X-wing box with a set of EotE rules without changing the X-wing rules at all. That might get us some space rules for the RPG which arent a muddled nonsensical mess too. There arent good rules in the RPG for fighter combat, fleet actions or mass combat, but there are whole games made for these things.

According to people who have attempted it, it does require a lot of work to meld X Wing with the space combat for the rpg. Based on their feedback I would have to say it is not as easy and simple as you make it out to be. Does space combat have problems, sure. But those problems aren't fixed by adding mini play. Actually a forum user came up with a modified rule set for space combat that I hear works better. Haven't tried it yet though.

It's similar to the way that in recent years, single-player videogames have tried (and failed) to push a multiplayer aspect in games like Tomb Raider, Dragon Age and Mass Effect. The multiplayer aspect is never very good, and only takes time and resources away from the single player game (the thing that attracted fans in the first place).

Hey now ...... the Mass Effect 3 online aspect was fairly fun as a mini game type thing!!!

I would like to receive the bounty hunters book SOMETIME before my character dies, I've been playing since this game started!

I would love a Tapani sector source book or focused adventure. I've had several PCs I've played that were native to the sector. Also I would love some new Tapani sector ships including hopefully some native to Fondor. It has always bugged me that of the three biggest shipbuilding centers in Star Wars Fondor is the only one without an established native shipwright firm. I don't think it has any ship designs established as being developed there either so far.

Very excited to see this!!!

*bump for Tapani Sector

I wouldn’t care, as it seems like FFG never actually publishes any books these days...

As for a serious answer, I would say that new stuff is always more interesting. Tatooine is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO overused.

Did Nytwyng's Tapani sourcebook ever materialize?

It’s been on extended hold as work got busy. I’m hoping to get back to work on it after the holidays.

Cool. I just started re-reading my LotE stuff after considering how to do a narrowly focused campaign centered on the old nobility of the Tion Cluster.
