Was playing firing lanes objective last night, when an interesting question came up...

Suppose you destroy your opponent's last ship in the middle of turn 4, but they actually have more points than you?

Lets say I'm playing rebels and we shoot back and forth, I finally defeat my opponent's last ship and all I have left is a CR-90B or something. Lets ALSO suppose, that up until that point, my opponent had won pretty much every victory token from our objective (Firing lanes or something else). So lets assume that my opponent could still have like a 50 point lead on me, despite me winning.

How does that factor in to Margin of Victory - or Tournament points for that matter? Would I get get a 6-5 win or would I get a 5-6 win? can you possibly get a 4-7 win?

If you destroy your opponent, you win.

If he has more points than you, you get 0 MoV.

If you have 0 MoV, it's a 6-5 to you.

At the end of each game, the winning player subtracts the loser’s score from his or her score. This is the winner’s Margin of Victory for the round. If this would result in a negative number, the winner’s Margin of Victory is 0. If this would result in a number larger than 400, the winner’s Margin of Victory is 400. The losing player receives a Margin of Victory of 0.

You weren't asking this, but it was kind of implied and should be clear for anyone reading. In organized play games, you play to the end of the round when one player has lost all of their ships. This varies from the rulebook in that the standard rules say the game ends immediatley when one player's ships are all destroyed. What this means in tournaments is a couple things. Squads have a chance to kill ships, potentially tabling both players. It also means that the surviving player can score additional objective points like Contested Outpost and Fire Lanes.

They updated the rules from the original rulebook, that's why there's an inconsistency.

Mostly because they added stuff like Rieekan that changed things.
