XYZ!

By Red 7, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I was playing around with some builds and came up with this fun little Rebel list:

HOR Poe with: AT, PTL, and R2D2

Gold squadron Y-Wing with: Ion cannon turret, R3A2

Airen Cracken Z-95 with: VI

Bandit squadron Z-95 without upgrades

I start out with the squad in formation to make the most of Airen's ability, he has PS 10 so he fires first and hands out the free action.

Then I brake Poe off to do his Ace thing while keeping the z-95s with the Y-wing

Nothing new or overly ingenious, but very fun to fly.

Thoughts. tweaks?

I changed the list up already! LOL

I used regular Poe, same load out. And due to the points saving I was able to give the Y-Wing Flachette torpedoes and Extra Munitions.

I have to say that I am not actually the biggest fan of stressing my opponent.

I can definitely see how someone could enjoy this type of list, but I just don't think that it is for me.

It was fun to give it a go though.

It really depends what the y-wing is flying against...

Stress is a decent control tactic against a few lists, but to be honest I feel like the stress of has fallen out of favour a bit lately.

Sure it's great against aces, and decent against any list that cares about its' actions... But with quite a few lists out there that either just don't care about stress, or mostly care about getting their alphastrike off there's quite a few matchups where the stresshog can just feel like dead weight.

I'm not saying don't take it, even if you don't use the stress ability it still has a nice & reliable damage output.

What I am saying is that it's not the same ship it was 12 months ago.

Good points.

Really, I was just playing around and wanted to try out a "light" stress list to see if I enjoyed the play style.

Long story short.......... I didn't :P

I think that I prefer high maneuverability lists more.

Same ships different list altogether!

In THIS incarnation of the XYZ list I am using:

Red squadron Veteran instead of Poe, and have loaded him out with: Juke, Comm Relay, R3 Astromech, & Intergrated astromec

The Y-Wing has: Dorsal turret, R2 Astromech, BTL-AL Y-Wing title, Proton Torps, Extra munitions, & Guidance chips.

The 2 Z-95s (one is Airen, the other is a Bandit Sqd) have; Concussion Missiles, & Guidance Chips

This list is A LOT more my style and fun to play!

Here is the squad being flown on Benchmark

Any thoughts about this list, &/or suggested tweaks?
