One ship, 29 points, no named pilots or large based ships. Help me decide between a few options?

Apart from that, what are thoughts on Arc170 or TIE sf in such a setting?A bit boring, that everone will turn up wuth Tie Def.

Technically the ARC is out since it only has unique pilots, no generics. :( (....).

Yes, right, stupid me :) Attack Shuttle out as well.

Braylen could be allowed. But that would open a Pandora's box, as many then would want some low PS unique as well.

Still gonna be Palp Shuttle.

Yeah, right. good luck hauling that fat ass around. On its own, a Palp Shuttle stands no chance against almost anything.

I was toying with the idea of a Tie Phantom but I think you would struggle to build a decent one at 29 points. Sigma Squadron + ACD is 29 points but at only PS3 you will be struggling with survivability as plenty of pilots will be shooting first. SPG + FCS might work better as at least you will have an evade token when you are exposed but it is still a brittle ship.

Shadow squadron pilot is a bit better at PS5 but then you cannot afford an ACD. Even the SPG will not leave you enough points for a FCS. I think 33 points is the lowest you can go to field a minimally effective Tie Phantom.

If you're allowed unique upgrades then what about this slight change to the Bomber:

Gamma Squadron Veteran

TIe Shuttle

Lone Wolf
Rebel Captive

Agent Kallus

Hull Upgrade (or Stealth Device might work with Kallus/Lone Wolf to back it up, your choice)

hm

In a duel? Royal Guard Pilot, PTL, Autothrusters, Targeting Computer: More useful than you'd think - it means if you run into another high-agi ace you can arc dodge then blow them to bits, while Autothrusters proofs you against any pesky turrets.

In a brawl? Yeah, go for the Defender. It's just so dang hard to kill, and can spend its Focus tokens more opportunistically.

These are what I'm thinking:

I'm thinking the TAP is the best option, though the Bomber sounds stupidly fun. The Bomber can also run Juke, which would give it much more offensive potential, but that leaves it much more frail against incoming attacks. Really not a huge fan of the Interceptor build, but didn't see another worthwhile option, although IIRC 6 is the highest pilot skill of any generic pilot available.

Juke on the bomber would be a waste until Ysanne starts being able to give you the evade action and that doesn't happen until you are down to no more than 5 hull left. I would probably go with the defender but that is due to it being my favorite ship since it was first seen in the Tie Fighter Flight simulator game.
