I don't even...escalation league help!

So over the course of the next month or so we're doing an escalation league. It's a first for me and seems like it will be fun. The only tough pint is the point set up. It goes; 30, 45, 60, 75, 90 then 100. Escalation rules, what you've used has to be in the next list Blah blah etc.

My problem is trying to make every tier work. So far I can make lists that are solid at every other interval; 30-60-90-100 but I'm working things out. Just wanted to see what suggestions everyone has and what you'd do personally I this setup.

(P. S. Almost a 100% guarantee a particular person is going to TIE swarm starting with howl and an academy and going from there, Id like to avoid doing that myself)

We have a 60-90-120 tourney upcoming locally. I am thinking going the below list for simplicity of list building. The format you guys are running does not sound fun for list building, i would lose sleep trying to come up with a list in that format lol....

This is not a standard escalation format, based on the point spreads. It's weird how small the increments are, if you want to take full advantage of your points each round, there's really not much you can do except a TIE Swarm.

Are you required to begin with two ships, like in typical escalation tournament, or are you allowed to field a single ship in round one?

...boy, 15pt increments seems super restrictive.

15 point increments scream crack shot black squadron.. But I'm an Imperial player. Lol

I know the 15 points is killing me! And no restriction on ship numbers. Annnnnnnnd, they went with 15 cause they thought 4 weeks was too short for them but 8 was too long if they did two weeks of each point increase.

Any suggestions to change the format would be welcome. Greatly!

One last thing, apparently no one wants to go over 100 points bevause before I started playing they went up to 120 once doing escalation and some people hated how long the games were and what not. Maybe 30-50-70-90-100?

Well.. I mean, with just 30 points to start you really need to pick something stupid strong at that level.. So 26 point Omega Leader seems good. Gives you some back bone, and he typically wins 1v1. That means next you have 19 points, which still isn't much. Maybe just take a SD on omega leader and accept tough games that week. Then you've saved 31 total points to pick up a fully loaded inquisitor and can hear the lamentations of the rebel scum. After that? Well best bang for 15 are black cracks, but if you want to save between weeks you might can pull it off with just those 2 for a few games. At 30 points you have massive wiggle room with an Imperial squad, there are alot of cool things around that level. Basically the way this format is built you either need to go all in on aces (with the load of pocket aces available it should be doable) or just swarm the cheap ships. There might be more variety to builds if instead of 15 point increments to 100 they could do 20 point increments to 120. More variety without everyone picking up a point sink ship per point increase.

I would have proposed 50 and increase by 20 to 150 for a 6 week league. If people don't want to go above 100pts, then I'd consider either 40/70/100 or 50/75/100 and doing each level for two weeks. 15pt increments is a huge problem for the format, unless everyone wants to play TIE Swarms.

You can even escalate up twice, and require a different faction each time.

Change the rules - just make sure that you have to keep the original ship from the first night, every increment after that can change ships as long as you keep your original ship the same throughout.

I quite like the small increments. Do I save the points up from one week to buy something better but go into the game handicapped, or just cash in immediately, on Ties.

So after playing some trial games and hearing some things from other people in my store I've picked my 30 pointer and most of my list. I know someone is going with a youngster Rage swarm, another is starting with a 30 point contracted scout (we're pretty annoyed here but that's how it goes hah) and another playtesye day exclusively a loaded out y wing (though Rebel or scum I have not heard). As for me, I'm going with a nice VI Wes. My plan is to add a Targeting Astromech with IA at the 45 point mark then a 26 point Biggs at the 60 point mark.

My new delema is the third ship! At the 75 point mark I'll be banking the 15 points (plus 2 left over from being at 58 points during the 60 point game). So my train of thought is I have 32 points to introduce a third ship at the 90 point area though it'll be lacking upgrades. Id like to introduce a ship then instead of waiting for the 100 point game. So what should it be? I was thinking either Crack Wedge it plain Wedge until I can fully upgrade him or VI Poe. Or should I wait til 100 for Corran? I just don't want to be way behind during the 90 point game. Thoughts? Ideas? Opinions?
