Gladiator Stardestroyer for Epic (Scratch build)

By Panmedic, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Hello,

I want to share my scratch built project with the community.

I tried to build a Gladiator Stardestroyer in the Epic Scale for X-Wing.

As you can see it is 4 times larger than a Imperial Raider (150m to 650 m).

I integrated an Tie Fighter Hangar as well.

Hope you enjoy

Best regards

That is amazing... Great work.

Ho ware you plannign on using it? Terrain only, or are you using turrets on it? Or some crazy rules to fully run it as a ship?

Great job, especially with the greeblies. Very inventive.

Thanks,

We are planning an epic mission involving the gladiator.

The rebels disabled it with ion mines to liberate one of their spy.

The gladiator has no defend turrets activated before turn 8 or so. But TIE reinforcements will be released from it turn by turn.

The rebels have to land with one large ship and escape after a certain time.

Then the turrets activate (maybe like stationary Z95)

Still testing

Haha. I like the Rhino hatches and creative use of sprue bits for detail. Plus, what looks like a small-scale WW2 battleship?

I think you're right.

You'd be absolutely amazed at how many WWII battleship kits were used to detail the original Star Wars Star Destroyer. They used the conning towers, smoke stacks, decks, hulls, cranes, just about every part.

If you want to lose your sanity, take a look at http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=102130 , particularly the latter pages where the images still work. The Y-Wing is almost as bad.

Still, so cool how they took such common model kits and made things as amazing as the X-Wing, Y-Wing, and Star Destroyer for the movies, and it's cool how Panmedic is following in those same footsteps here.

This friggin AWESOME! Great work! What are the dimensions of the model?

size is 125 cm x 72cm, 50x28 inches

As the raider is approximately 34cm /13 inches long I tried to make the SD 4 times bigger but it still fits on a 6x3 battlefield.

It is very light. So transport shouldn't be a problem.

It's true I mainly used 40bits and used WWII ship models

I'm surprised Job Boss Red 7 hasn't posted like 20 icons all over this already....
