Do you ever want more huge ships? And I don't just mean Scum huge ships, but also Imperial and Rebels Huge Ships?

The door is certainly still open. At a maximum of 5 epic points, the largest ones are only 3 points. It remains possible that FFG could make larger ships like the Nebulon (been done by others), or the Pelta, or even the Hammerhead. And the Imperials could even get an Arquitens, or possibly even a Gladiator at some point.

Epic doesn't have quite the pull at the moment to justify this, but they are quickly using up just about every ship that is canon, and they are bound to run out of new canon ships pretty soon. Even with Rogue One, it's not like were going to have another full year's worth of ships unless they pull a T-70 on us and give us 3 separate versions of the U-Wing, (Which might mark the end of X-Wing for me to be honest).

So what do you say? Do you think we'll ever see a significant expansion in the Epic Format? Even more huge ships? 5 point epic ships?

The best time is around Christmas so I can get them as gifts.

i would be (pleasantly) surprised if they added anything even bigger. Theyre already clunky and difficult to move around.

Very short answer: right now (because I want my Scum huge!)

A bit more detailed answer: when elements introduced in small or large ships suddenly make huge ships not as competitive.

The Gozanti offered a much needed boost to huge ships with ordnance tubes, optimized generators and automated protocols. As it currently stands, huge ships can still be competitive, but using them (correctly) is a challenge for new players.

We are about to start our second season of an epic tournament and we have worked some inhouse rules to encourage (but not force) the use of huge ships and limit (but not stop) the use of swarms. Part of me feels that huge ships would need a tiny tweek to get them to where they need to be, so if those tweeks could be introduced by a huge scum ship then I would be happy.

IF Wave 10 drops around Christmas like they've said they intend, then we should expect another major announcement sometime in December.

That being said, it almost feels as though getting larger ships for X-wing would be encroaching on Armada territory.

As you mentioned Crabbok, it will be very interesting to see what direction X-wing takes as they start to run out of ships.

What makes you say the maximum is five? 5 EP is the most points you can spend in two player dogfight, but in Team Dogfight it's 3. A 4 or 5 EP ship would be unusable in Team Epic.

1 EP we'll almost certainly never see because it'd let you spam five ramming bases and just flatten the board. That's why epic points exist in the first place, else you could spam GR-75s (which are only 30 points) to run the enemy force over.

That leaves only 2 EP and 3 EP, which is what we have now. Epic points are a convenient way of saying that in Epic Dogfight you can run two epic ships and only one can be a Corvette.

All a 5 EP ship does is preclude you from using another Epic ship with it. The reason Corvettes are 3 EP is to prevent double Corvette.

Think of it like Standard: point costs can go between 0 and 100, but you're not going to see 80 point standard ships because you'd get very dull one ship lists and you don't get ships below 12 points because you could run too many.

Eventually I'd like to see a Mon Cal design for the Reb's... from what I could find on wiki's, it appears that they don't have one down at the Corvette size, so FFG might have to design their own (like with the Raider - but I'd be fine with that).
