I got to thinking about what StarWarsDad1138 said ( here ) about having a pint-sized, switch-hitting Epic ship and thought to myself:
I think FFG would be tapping into another vein of gold in the mines of X-Wing Miniatures if they started making a class of ships that were nestled between Large-base and Epic size.
If they made these ships meta-/mechanics-relevant and aesthetic af , the number of people playing Epic would sky-rocket.
I'm thinking they would be costed in the 65-85 point range (naked) and have access to Epic upgrades but would also be playable in 100-point matches (i.e. tournament legal). The Upsilon-Class Shuttle (UPS - W hat can Dark-Side do for you? ), and to a lesser extent the Ghost, tease what the game would be like if there were demi-gods between mortals like Lando Calrissian and the Imperial-Class gods of the X-Wing pantheon. These ships, we'll call them Massive-base ships - will create a run on Epic and the new power-curved Massive ships... $$$ ... alike.
As far as base-size, I would imagine these ships would either be two connected Large bases or a three-by-three of small bases.
This would introduce new actions, more one- and two-slot Crew upgrades like Black Sun Enforcers or Jedi-escort ( ! ), and, most importantly of all, more pre-painted, pure plastic crack. *scratches neck*
Ideally, these ships would be so cool and synergyrate so well in both Epic and 100-point mode that FFG would lose money if they didn't finally give us an Epic Scum & Villainy ship (or three ).
Heck, get
