1) Have the rules for this year's event been released yet? Or are they going to be the same as last year's (posted on the forum previously)?
2) Anyone going need a partner for this? I do...hoping to discuss a bit beforehand so I know what to bring!

Someone posted a response to email i believe. 1 commander per player, but uniques are one per team. Each team gets 2 activations in a row, of their choice. I don't recall the rest, of there's more.
What do you play? I think my Rebel cousin is probably still looking, I can have him PM you if you're interested.

If you are registered for any Worlds event, then you are welcome to attend any side event.
I'll be bringing my Rebels, so that'd be very kind of you DerErlkoenig. ![]()
Not a problem, text sent. I'm sure he's sleeping now, though.

Oh **** two activations in a row?
Oh **** two activations in a row?
That was my understanding based on what someone posted in a thread after emailing FFG.
Sounds cray, lol.
That was me. I posted verbatim what FFG OP told me when I asked what the rules were. You can find the discussion here: https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/228386-armada-team-game-rules/

Thanks, I was feeling 100% too lazy to go digging.
Sorry for the confusion everybody - based on the surprise people had about 2 activations in a row, I double checked with organized play. Since I'd never been to worlds nor played in a team game I didn't give it a 2nd thought.
Please read my 1st post in that thread for the correction - each side activates once, but each side can have either player activate (you don't have to alternate players).
Edited by Ken-ObiSo it SEEMS to be using the Optional Team Rules from the RRG, with the amendment to state that a Fleet is actually 2 Separate Fleets put together:
Page 14, RRG, "Optional Rules"
Team Play
Star Wars: Armada is designed for two players, but it can be enjoyed by more; simply split the players as equally as possible into two teams. Each team controls one fleet. Each team must also nominate a Team Commander from among its members.
Each player takes exclusive control of one or more of his team’s ship and squadron cards and makes all decisions for the corresponding ships and squadrons. This includes choosing commands, attacking, spending tokens, etc. During the Command Phase, each player chooses commands for only the ships that he controls. He may discuss his choices with his teammates, but he must do so openly at the table and cannot show his command dials to another player.
During the Ship Phase, the players must agree on which ship to activate when it is their turn to activate a ship. During the Squadron Phase, the team must agree on which squadrons to activate.
If teammates cannot come to an agreement on a choice, the Team Commander makes the final decision.
If all of one player’s ships and squadrons are destroyed, his team continues to play and can win by destroying all of the opposing team’s ships or by having the highest score after six rounds.
Ok, that makes sense that the double activation thing isn't true.
I did the team tournament last year and it was fun. Two admirals per side is interesting and probably good for balance at that points level. (It's interesting to note that Dodonna is kind of an exception to the rule, since his wording affects enemy ships rather than friendly ships, and thus does result in a fleet-wide effect.) Unfortunately can't do it this year since it overlaps with the IA championship.
Edited by MythicalMothmanDoes a player wanting to participate need to find a teammate, or are they assigned randomly, or can one be found at the event? I'm going alone and would like to play in the team tourney, but i haven't arranged for a teammate. I'm still unsure what side I'm bringing and I'm pretty sure I'll only be able to being one, not both. I usually play Empire.
What day is it??? I may be driving down and so might not make it for this...

I'm sure you'll be able to get with someone when you show up. If you can, I'd recommend trying to find someone early so that you can work together on complimentary lists.

Saturday. At 3 I think.
So for objectives like 'Advanced Gunnery', there would be only 1 objective ship per team?
Presumably.
Alrighty. Anyone going to Worlds that wants to play in the team tourney that is also looking for a partner that will most likely be playing Imperials?
Ya I'm down for sure.. how do we submit teams?? Imperial here
I believe I already found a partner. We're going to hash over some builds this weekend at the Canadian Nationals and I'll know if we're good to go after the event.

I think you have to wait to do it at the event itself.
i'd do this too, but it means going to a tournament..... hrmmmmm
